I vote for both suggestions! I have good eyesight and still can barely read the battery level.  Are there 2 or 3 bars left? Hard to tell, and it's even more complicated when I'm on my bicycle or running. What about older people?

Yes you can. I already did it. On the 1.22 beta i had to reset it every ~30 min, so I rolled back to 1.20. Although i have to mention that 1.22 beta is much faster than 1.20! So I will patiently wait until they release the final 1.22.
