Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions
This was the only reason I sold my r70x - despite the headband and over all construction making them the best balance of light and durable I've yet experienced in a headphone, the ear pads being so small effectively made them on-ears for me... But not really. Just partly, which was worse. It's a...- silent-circuit

Astell&Kern NOVUS IEM collab with Empire Ears
Not going to lie, that driver config coming from EE has me very tempted... But the look is not at all for me, and neither is the price. Also, those are going to be some huge shells.- silent-circuit

Have you heard the Empire Ears Legend X (ideally EQ'd to flat or at least Harman curve, since its stock tuning is... Aggressive)? I've yet to find better bass in an IEM, or even over-ears for that matter. That said, my over-ears aren't anywhere near the same class, price-wise. It feels...- silent-circuit

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...
My HP P1110 (a rebranded 21" Sony Trinitron) died about 20 years ago and I went LCD against my will at the time, so I feel your pain on that one, and totally understand the relief of no longer having to worry when the other shoe will drop. Don't give up the FW900 if you have space to store it...- silent-circuit

Koss ESP/950 using the original energizer. PC USB source, Topping D90 MQA DAC, A90 amp (in preamp mode) in to the E90, to the ESP/950.- silent-circuit

I will never own another LCD. They're garbage. Thankfully I think burn-in-free OLED is only a couple years away at this point.- silent-circuit

65" LG C9 and 42" Sony A90K. And thank you. It's years of saving (and irresponsible spending), and a lifetime of tech obsession. It's a C9, but it's the 65" - the 77" is my next TV in a few years. Or something bigger, if that's realistically possible by then. I'll still give you full points for trying. ;) The "monitor" is a Sony Bravia XR42A90K. Lower max brightness and a stupid firmware quirk that means it'll only do...- silent-circuit

They are far and away my favorite open backs. Rich and warm and happy, without sounding muddy or lacking detail. I bought them used off the forums here a few years ago and will never sell them.- silent-circuit

My main "desk" space as of this morning. Still moving things around, planning to add KVMs/HDMI splitters/switches soon so I won't have to switch cables ever again. Hyland Audio Jupiter One out and in use, connected to Hidizs DH80S. Empire Ears Legend X and Bravado Mk2 center, with Topping G5...- silent-circuit

Best spend for 500-800
Look for a pair of original Empire Ears Legend X (not the SE or EVO, those will be out of budget) if you're willing to buy used. Nothing I've tried before or since touches them. In a few years I'll probably get a pair of Odins and be done with IEMs entirely.- silent-circuit

Exactly - at absolute minimum a 10mm dynamic and a (similarly sized to what they have now or larger) planar. Maybe dual 8mm in a proper isobaric setup, but I don't see that happening. Not from KZ and their ilk, at least.- silent-circuit

The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)
Wish I was in a little bit better financial position right now, I'd love to get some of their gear as I've always heard great things, and something like the Angel would (should) be a big step up from my current portables. Sadly I could swing it, but I shouldn't.- silent-circuit

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)
If you're willing to buy used they can be had for a good bit less... And yes, they're every bit the basshead set you're looking for. Also surprisingly capable as all-roundere with a little EQ.- silent-circuit
