Buyer's Remorse: Headphones and earphones you bought on impulse and regretted.
As of right now, my Bowers and Wilkins P5's have to be RMA'ed. After about 7 months of daily (yet careful) use, the right earpiece now has developed a short in the cable that runs through the headband. Pretty pissed off to have paid $300.00 plus taxes for it to not even last a year. Oh well. ...- iAmCodeMonkey

Loss of Enjoyment, or Loss of Hearing?
"I think that a big part of what you are experiencing is simply that Hi Fi is not really about listening to music. It is a consumerist exercise. The way it works is the Hi Fi industry and its advocates (mostly so-called "reviewers") convince you that you will only be happy if you buy more of the...- iAmCodeMonkey

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
Sorry if that came off as harsh, but criticizing other people's choices "just because" is pretty weird. I could not tell if you were joking or not.- iAmCodeMonkey

Buyer's Remorse: Headphones and earphones you bought on impulse and regretted.
Just curious, what source were you using with them? I find mine to be very good at staying true to the source whether I use my Asus Xonar D2/PM sound card or my Fiio X3 audio player. They both have different characteristics in sound and in my opinion the P5's do an wonderful job at conveying...- iAmCodeMonkey

Reply to review by 'iamcodemonkey' on item 'Bowers & Wilkins P5 Mobile Headphones'
"The people giving them rave reviews on the consumer websites have either never heard good cans or are utterly hypnotized by the B&W brand aura and can't stand the cognitive dissonance of having spent $300 on subpar headphones." Wow, really?! Just because you don't like them doesn't mean...- iAmCodeMonkey

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
To be frank, your original reply could be perceived as rude to some people due to your second statement: "Do you expect me to know the prices of every headphone?" No one in their right mind expects you or anyone else to know that information. You could have just mentioned to him that you...- iAmCodeMonkey

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
The store had all of the Beats headphones plugged into a bunch of Apple iPods. The ones I tried were plugged into an iPod Nano.- iAmCodeMonkey

Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II
I actually tried a pair of Beats Mixr's yesterday just for fun. Compared to my P5's, they sounded very veiled in the midrange and had too much bass, which made everything sound muffled and congested. My mother even said the same thing. I can't fathom how people pay retail price for those...- iAmCodeMonkey

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
The cost of something is the first thing that a person notices when researching or buying a product. That's how. If Mcintosh wants to somehow get more customers into their brand, they should have priced this for less than $4500 MSRP. See, I am a normal consumer, someone who does not have...- iAmCodeMonkey

OPINION: Review Units Hurt the Audio Community
Agreed. No one forces you to go out and buy the next best thing all the time. We can only blame ourselves, and to some extent, the media, for planting these ideas in our minds.- iAmCodeMonkey

A digital music player does not need this. At all. All this would do is add un-needed complexity to the OS and the subsequent device cost would be higher than it needs to be. Look at how much those Astell & Kern players cost. Over $1000 for a portable music player?! Come on now, this is just...- iAmCodeMonkey

You can scratch a satin or anodized aluminium finish too, you know. If you are using the iPhone 4 as your example of scratches, that is not much of an argument. Glass will always be prone to that unless it is very high quality. Those devices do not get scratched that quickly as long as you...- iAmCodeMonkey

MCINTOSH LABS INTRODUCES NEW HEADPHONE AMP MODEL MHA 100
I agree, The amp is probably worth about $1500. The rest of the change goes into the looks and the McIntosh name. If it was $2500 less, then well talk. LOL If I ever get the chance to hear one, then MAYBE it is worth it to some people. But it would have to sound amazing for its current price.- iAmCodeMonkey
