Which DT770 version for FiiO E7?
If you really want the coiled cord then go for the 250 ohm version. I don't think it's that much harder to drive.- congle

Which DT770 version for FiiO E7?
Just shorten it by wrapping part of it up near the jack and tying it. I find this more convenient than having to bear the weight of the entire coiled cable.- congle

Denon AH-D340 or Beats by Dr. Dre Monster Solo HD?
I'm going to have to also advise against the beats. I doubt anybody on this forum will ever suggest that you buy beats. There's almost always better headphones for the same price unless somebody is selling you a pair for dirt cheap.- congle

Headphones for film/game music
If you're really into open headphones for gaming, I have heard a lot of people say good things about the Beyer DT990s. They have a lot of bass for open headphones which makes them nice for movies and games.- congle

Warm Portable amp for Beyerdynamic DT770 250 Ohm
I believe the OP is looking for portable amps though. I don't think there's such as thing as a portable tube amp unfortunately, at least not to my knowledge.- congle

Newbie to the forum
Hey prum! Welcome to headfi and sorry about your wallet! I think that's the saying around here. I just joined recently myself. It might help to mention a few things before people recommend amps for you: Do you prefer portable/desktop? Price range? What kind of music do you listen to...- congle

Do I need a DAC?
I'm currently running my DT880s from a dragonfly v1.2 through a fiio E12. I'm pretty sure I'm going to return the E12 and replace it with either a little dot mkIII or a dark voice 336 since the 600 ohm Beyers headphones are supposed to pair well with tubes.- congle

Which DT770 version for FiiO E7?
The mids are a little recessed but I personally didn't find it to be a deal-breaker. You could always buy them from Amazon to test them out and return them within the 30 day window if you don't like them. You only lose out on shipping costs which is usually less than $5. Here's a really...- congle

Which DT770 version for FiiO E7?
Why not the 80 ohm version? The E7 can drive this version for sure and it's also decent unamped.- congle

Help the Newbie pick some Headphones
Grados SR60i may work for you. I haven't tried them myself but they do tend to get some pretty good reviews. I found an ebay auction for a used pair. The starting bid is $46 so you may be able to save some cash since it retails around $80 new I believe. Here's the link: ...- congle

Choices, choices...
Unless she's an adult film star.... Sorry I couldn't help myself! If comfort is really important to you, I think the Beyers headphones are extremely comfortable. If you're worried about bright trebles you can always pair it with a tube amp.- congle

n00b looking for some somewhat bassy cans
If you don't mind open headphones, I hear the DT990's do almost everything the DT770's do better. They're pretty much the same price as well right now on Amazon, roughly $150.- congle

DT880 dac help
Hey guys! I just recently got a pair of DT880s 600 ohms and am trying to figure out what to pair it with. I am currently running it off a Dragonfly v1.2 + Fiio E12 from my Macbook Air. This seems to work pretty well but I keep hearing how good the 600 ohm Beyers are with OTL tube amps...- congle
