Win a SUSVARA
Gave my work headphones to my girlfriend and now I don't have headphones to use at work. It'd be super awesome to have a susvara at home and then just leave my nighthawks at work.- adpo

Went to CanJam Socal with a few buddies, consensus from all of them was roughly "Unless you're spending $5k+, the Nighthawks are as good as it's going to get."- adpo

How about 'Jason' for a more affordable mid-centric IEM? Jason was the great-grandson of Hermes, so I figured it'd be a fitting name- adpo

Didn't you see the 300 page discussion on how blood sacrifice accelerates the rate at which the NHs burn in? Here's my input on the original solid core cable: I had mine reterminated for a balanced TRRS adapter so that I can use it with the GOV2 I had at the time. This also meant I could...- adpo

Bass is great for epic scenes and imaging is spot on. Using the NHs with Dolby Atmos turned on in Overwatch almost feels like having an unfair advantage- adpo

I've been kinda hard on my nighthawks for the past year or so that I've had them and they've held up wonderfully. The design and build quality on them are top-notch. Currently running mine with the Jotunheim and a Pro-Ject RPM10.1 Evo as a source and it sounds fantastic. The TT is...- adpo

I've been rocking my Nighthawks on the new schiit Jotunheim for a little while now and I think it's an excellent combination, especially given the price. It leaves the frequency response untouched, but everything just seems a bit tighter on the Nighthawks in comparison to the Magni 2 Uber and...- adpo

I definitely agree, damping is a rabbit hole in which you can easily shoot yourself in the foot. It took me about 2 weeks of experimentation post-burn-in before I got the damping mods just right in my pair. That said, I did at least want to present the option, given that I personally have found...- adpo

The more the better. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about it if you're using the headphones daily, just make sure to make it a point to use them when you can and you'll get there eventually.- adpo

In my experience, things the NHs like are: 1. Burn in. 2. Clean power and lots of it. The common trait I've noticed between amps I've enjoyed with the Nighthawks is that they tend to be capable of swinging a crapton of voltage with authority, usually with an option for balanced drive. 3. A...- adpo

I've been running the Nighthawks with the new Jotunheim for a few weeks now and it's been a fantastic pairing. Only thing I find lacking in any sense with the pairing is that, compared to what I recall of the V281, it lacks the violectric's stunning sense of holographic imaging. Besides that...- adpo

Here's the quick-&-dirty guide. Disclaimer: I ended up with this after much mucking around and not too much understanding of what I'm doing, so I'm sure sure how much of this mod does anything at all. Step 1: remove pads Step 2: unscrew the screws you see and remove drivers from cups ...- adpo

I just replaced the stock damping material with some bamboo/rayon batting and added some sorbothane as well. My Nighthawks no longer have that sort of internal reflection noise that I was getting early on and I'm not sure if it's from the mods or burn-in. In any case, my Nighthawks sound just...- adpo

Nighthawks sound pretty good sans dedicated amplification. They will scale with better gear, but you can definitely run them satisfactorily without having to invest in amps/dacs if your budget prevents it.- adpo

My Nighthawks really peaked for me around 150 hours. That's around the point where I ended up going back to stock pads rather than the velours, as the bass had flattened out and the treble opened up considerably from stock. I kept my (minor) internal damping mods though.- adpo
