You should give Adam F5 or F7 a try. They're the most affordable in their line and I think they're absolutely fantastic speakers for their price.

I would also though the Ayre QB-9 in the mix. The only thing wrong with it is the usb only input. Other than that, it's a terrific dac.

Creative T20 are a pretty good choice. Some of my colleagues at the office have these on their desks. I think they're quite fitting in a work environment, small fottprint and pretty decent sound.
