Some cables are marketed for HD25 and the HD580/600/650. Are they all interchangeable?

I'm looking to pick up some HD25 headphones, but I'm confused with all the different versions/models there seems to be. I was hoping you guys could please help? Which is considered to be the best version available to buy (in the UK) today? Also what are the differences?

In the end I bought the Sennheiser HD600 headphones for home use.    I am also going to get the Sennheiser HD 25-1 II headphones for my portable needs and also for when I need isolation in and out the house.    BUDGET BLOWN!

My ears are average as well I guess. Are there different size pads available like with the V-MODA M-100s? Any other recommendations for Sennheiser closed back headphones? Portability would be nice, but not a deal breaker.
