ATH-M50x Vs. ATH-M50 (Or other around the price range)
I got the M50x about 3 months ago. The only phones I can compare them to are a 20 yr old Sony MDR-V404 and a newer ZX-100. The M50x is much, much better than both. I spent the extra 50-60 bucks for the detatchable cable. For now I only use the coiled cord with my laptop. They sound great out of...- DerFred

Best audio combination for on line pc gamer and rock in roll listener
I would consider: Koss Pro DJ 100 / Sony MDR-7506 V6 / ATH-M50 M40 M30. Much easier to drive than the Beyers or Sens and much easier on the wallet also. IMHO- DerFred

Help in choosing an UPgrade
I would keep the M-50's. Unless you spend $1000 or above you will not see a big upgrade in sound quality, unless you really want it to be that is.- DerFred

Dont know if this old thread is the place to post this or not, but here goes. I ordered the black M50 with coiled cable yesterday off E-Bay from an authorized dealer for $99.98 free shipping. The best headphones I have heard are my 20+ year old Sony MDR-V404,(which have been broke for 2...- DerFred

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread
Thanks. I have seen the graph many times. Many have said that is just the difference that can happen between 2 of the same pnones. If the graph is accurate then I would still want the V6. Win win for me.- DerFred

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread
Thankyou for your to the point reply. I want to apologize for dragging up this V6 vs 7506 topic. I have since realized there are hundreds of discussions going back 10 or 12 years. I have found V6's at a number of places. Right now bhphotovideo.com has the V6 at $82.99 and the 7506 at $85.99. I...- DerFred

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread
I had my V404's for about 15 years before the pleather had came off so badly I kink of scraped the fest off and continued to use them. Then I had a thought. What if you rubbed in a little Armor-All from time to time. Or to be very bold, a little melted Sno-Seal which is beeswax. Might help to...- DerFred

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread
At last, I can actually reply. Cant start a new thread for some reason. I have been able to quote a post twice. This seems like an appropriate place to ask this question. My 20yr old V404 broke. This has been my only can:( is that right, I have always just called them phones); except for the...- DerFred

Sony MDR-V6 (and family) Impressions Thread
I have been using the V404 for about 20 years now. I have always been impressed with their sound. They are broke now, and I am going to replace them with the V6, mabey the 7506. Any reason for me to choose 1 over the other at the same price(82 bucks)?- DerFred

Good noise-isolating headphones for under $50?
Sorry to hijack thread, but when I try to post a new thread I can type in the title box but something is not letting me type in the body box. The borders of the body box go away.
