If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

Etymotic is the only brand of earphone that I buy blindly without needing to try it beforehand :D IMO, ER4B >> ER4SR / ER2SE > ER4S > ER4P

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

Thank you for your quick reply. Then it seems illogical to me, given that all of the players that i have used before should not be like that. Not to mention, the top volume button (on the other side of the R3 player) increases volume, whereas the top track skipping button skips the track...

The New HIBY R3 II is here. 4.4MM Jack; Improved Sound and Bluetooth.

i just bought a R3, and I just updated the firmware to the latest version: 2.1. The side buttons (that are responsible for skipping tracks) appear to be reversed (i.e., the bottom, side button skips tracks forward; the top, side button skips tracks backward) Is this a firmware bug? Or did I...

Naturally, the Cayin N3 sounds decently detailed with excellent soundstage and elevated (but well-controlled) bass + smoooooth detailed mids. I recently realised that the N3 complements my ER4S beautifully without the need for an amp because of the elevated bass and detailed mids. I also love...

Chord mojo + ER4B is a breath-taking combination. The 3D soundstage that is provided by the Mojo (with smooth mids) really complements the ER4B's highs and transparency Paired with my Cayin N3 + USB-C output. IMO, the best portable/performance/value setup I got at the moment

haha I would definitely be interested if you don't mind sharing your thoughts because afterall and personally, ER4B is still the best pair of IEM i have ever heard (I have swapped IEMs with friends and auditioned their stuff like campfire andromeda or JH13 universal) if somehow ER4SR is a...

Thank you for your reply! I have considered the ER4SR as my next IEM, but what is stopping me is the price. The ER4SR costs 50% more than the ER4P in Hong Kong I hope to try them out before justifying the significant price difference, but non of the retailers that I know of have demo ones

In my opinion, the ER4B >>>>>>>>>> ER4S / ER4P Even when used un-amped, it still sounds like it is in a different league But I haven't tried the ER4SR yet, I wonder how it compares to the ER4B

Hello Pete! Wow, I just checked the XDP-300R prices on ebay and they have now risen to £460-700 without shipping and potential duty when importing to the UK In that case, you are right that XDP-300R doesn't seem like a viable alternative to DX80. I guess maybe the Fiio X5 gen 3 can be a...

I bought my XDP-300r for £230 with shipping directly from Amazon Japan. They are out of stock at that price. BUT some people bought a few XDP-300R from Amazon Japan and started flipping them for £100-200 more on eBay. But those are all gone it seems - maybe they will resurface? Grey...

I sold my old DX80 and bought a Pioneer XDP-300R - it is a worthy upgrade for anyone wants a relatively affordable upgrade (instead of the DX200) Advantages of the XDP-300R over the DX80: - Full android UI for supporting streaming services and it could do all the usual android stuff like...

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)

btw if you have an impedance adapter at home, give it a try with the RE00... it improves the soundstage and imaging I find. I used a 75 ohm one.

Massdrop Hifiman RE00? Those are the best value earphones I have ever heard and I would rank it a lot better than IEMs that cost 4x-6x the price (looking at IE8 and SE535) I can't believe I only paid $35 USD for it.

    Looking for Etymotic ER4 Replacement/Upgrade

Thank you for the recommendation, I will try to find a dealer in Hong Kong to try them out. I have previously strongly considered the Noble 4 or the Noble Savant (as others have pointed out), but these are now discontinued and I can't find a reseller that stocks them from where I live. I also...

    Looking for Etymotic ER4 Replacement/Upgrade

Gonna bump this topic I have been using the same ER4P/S/B (with different MMCX/impedance adapters) for the past 5 years straight as my everyday earphones I recently bought the Hifiman RE00 from Massdrop (which offers unbeatable value for its clarity and sound, but unfortunately they are...

Selitta isn't so bad performance-wise, I bought a SW200-1 OEM ebauche recently and the timegrapher performance is really good for what I paid (way less than a gen ETA 2824-2). Maybe give Selitta another chance :)

Etymotic ER4B (with AWaudio ER4B MMCX adapter) + MMCX 2.5mm TRRS balanced cable + Pioneer XDP-300r Gotta love that unamped ER4B / ER4S lean sound on anything, including iPods and smartphone.

I came here just to comment that I am glad that someone else like you also likes Boz Scaggs. He is totally underrated and his session musicians are from Toto, which makes every Boz Scaggs composition freakin awesome with jazzy rhythms - especially the drumming and Steve Lukather

MassDrop x Hifiman RE00: Reincarnation of the Legend - Impression and Discussion

Everyone here, if you have a 75ohm impedance adapter pictured below (e.g. the Dunu 75ohm adapter), go on and try it with the RE00 In my opinion, the 75ohm impedance adapter improves the RE00's soundstage a bit and clarity is enhanced with better decay for cymbals (and instruments of...

DX80 Purist Firmware Modification - For purist audiophiles

windowsX, I am still using your firmware after all these months and I absolutely love your firmware. I love how the DX80 sounds so neutral and uncoloured when using your firmware, especially with my Etymotic ER4B. I can't thank you enough for providing this firmware.
