Sounds like you should try Audio GD dac with the 8 pcm1704 chips. It has same basic concept as your wadia which is using multiple dac chips to get better overall performance while keeping the original chip’s sound. I bet you can find a used one on the cheap or the new one with all his updates...

I definitely think some stax headphones are more sensitive than others. I have had 009 for going on 8-9 years. Never had any issues with imbalance or anything else for that matter. Mine have sat on my cancans stand constantly when not in use. No other babying done.

What dac were you running before? As for warming up the tubes, for sure you should hear some improvements but it feels like it is more along the margins or more subtle things. Should mostly should how it should sound right off the bat in my experience.
