Selling my Blue Hawaii in Blue with the upgraded Alps RK50 volume pot. Running out of room on my rack and it’s time to part with this great amplifier. Been investing in 2 channel equipment lately. I am first owner and this was purchased directly from Headamp, and it is in at least good...

Satin Audio Feedback & Discussion Thread

Btw this is the 4 wire version which I wanted because I was looking for more portability. The 4 wire version is extremely light and minimal cable noise. while the cable is a little stiff, the minimal diameter means the cable is very maneuverable and easy to use given its minimal weight...

Got my satin audio Apollo. Putting it through its paces with Traillii and Tia Fourte Noir with new Ibasso dx320 and thx dongle. Comparing with stock cables from both IEMs.

Wadia 27ix Digital to Analog Converter (and other pre-2007 Wadia DACs)

Sounds like you should try Audio GD dac with the 8 pcm1704 chips. It has same basic concept as your wadia which is using multiple dac chips to get better overall performance while keeping the original chip’s sound. I bet you can find a used one on the cheap or the new one with all his updates...

    Directstream dac and Bridge II

BTW, I ordered 2 Edcor on Monday directly from EdcorUSA for a friend. They quoted May 26-June 23 for delivery. Just got them today! $61 + shipping. Point is that Edcor obviously stocking them.

Wadia 27ix Digital to Analog Converter (and other pre-2007 Wadia DACs)

Few notes: 1) Careful with the Trinity: It is unclear if the newer ones use PCM1704 chips (it seems like they don't). I know the original one did. BTW, here is a quote from the designer of Trinity about his original DAC (note his comment about the PCM1704) from another forum: "I am Dietmar...

    Directstream dac and Bridge II

+1 Highly recommend everyone do the Edcor XS4400 upgrade. Around $60 for the transformers. Since the Edcor XS4400 are both pin compatible and board compatible with Directstream, it is relatively simple upgrade. Professional should be able to install in a hour and less than $200. Given that...

Wadia 27ix Digital to Analog Converter (and other pre-2007 Wadia DACs)

I find your discovered love of the Wadia interesting. Your Solution 560 is using more modern pcm1792 chip Vs the pcm1702 on the wadia. However, even though the pcm1792 is a multibit dac chip, it is actually a segmented multibit chip vs. The pcm1702 being a “pure” multibit dac. Curious if you...

DAC with volume control direct to Amplifier

Based on what you have said, not sure this is best place to post such a question given this is a headphone focused website. Maybe give some more info on speakers/headphones and details on setup. But I’ll try to give some advice. First off, you need something with preamp functions. Preamp has...

Yes that will solve it. I have done it before in similar situation. As for which cable/adapter combination works better, I would do whatever you can more easily/cheaply do. I believe best practice is to run XLR cables with adapters on rca side. There are balanced Lampizators with balanced...

Had to look up Amber 3. As FYI, they moved to Amber 4. In any case, “too many” tubes is really case by case. Most people who run tube amps use tube preamps in my experience for example. Looking at the Amber 4, looks like you can roll ecc81,82,12at7, 12au7, etc. and rectifier tubes. So...

    Stax SR-X9000

I definitely think some stax headphones are more sensitive than others. I have had 009 for going on 8-9 years. Never had any issues with imbalance or anything else for that matter. Mine have sat on my cancans stand constantly when not in use. No other babying done.

You definitely make mental adjustments. I would try your old DAC in a week or so and see what you hear.

    LAMPIZATOR THREAD COMMENTS REVIEWS TUNING

To compare this to a turntable setup. Your DAC does two things: Process the digital file into an audio signal (ie similar function to needle) but also bring that audio signal up to line level (ie similar function to phono preamp). Lampizators use tubes to bring up the audio signal to line...

What dac were you running before? As for warming up the tubes, for sure you should hear some improvements but it feels like it is more along the margins or more subtle things. Should mostly should how it should sound right off the bat in my experience.
