That's what I do with my iPod, just airplane mode, or wifi if I am listening to any podcasts (its a plus having an option to listen my tons of podcasts on the go) roughly more than 40 hrs of battery, also depends if I use my amp or not.

I really enjoy my iTouch 5 everyday, unamped or amped. Great DAP for the price I paid for it, nice UI, excelent 40 hrs battery and love the sound signature

I read your X1 review and I have to say that is pretty good. You're right, I'm a tight budget student haha I only have 200 bucks and I think the X1 + E11k is my best option What do you think? Or maybe the Topping NX1 ? Do the X1 support playlists made from my PC??
