Non-audiophile reactions to high-end headphones Part II

Played my girlfriend Cynic's "Re-Traced EP" (which is some of the best music to test headphones to in my opinion) on my small rig of a pair of HD600s plugged into a Schiit Magni/Modi combo and it blew her mind. She wouldn't stop listening and completely loved them. I have overall had fairly...

HD 598 vs HD 600 (which has more detail)

I would agree. I think one of the things that make the HD600 such a killer headphone is that you can honestly make them sound great with pretty much anything. If you want more or less punch out of them, they respond with amazing accuracy to EQing and they're full of energy so I wouldn't say they...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I haven't read the whole thread haha. I was just stating my overbearing affection for the HD600s :)

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

I mean I didn't say that they are demanding of it as much as some, but I don't like how they sound un-amped very much at all personally. The bass response dies for one, and that's the most major thing but when I say it dies it DIES and that makes them pretty much un-listenable for me.

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

The HD-600s are in my opinion, the best headphones you can buy for the price. Put them through a nice audio rig, and you'll likely never feel the need to go any higher. They mark the point at which audiophilism goes from investments in quality into money sucking addiction for diminishing...

    The hate on beats, why?

the new solos actually did change their sound. It's not as drastic of an improvement as the studios, but it's certainly nice. I just hate the way the new studios look... SO much... The Solo HD however, is a very pretty headphone IMO, even if they don't really sound exceptional in any way, and...

    Finally taking the plunge...

Yeah the V-Moda ones aren't really known for being super comfortable. They're actually known to have the problem that you had with the Momentum of not fitting all the way around the ear, but for way more people.

HD 598 vs HD 600 (which has more detail)

That's too bad. Idk what to tell you, they are kind of hard to find anywhere but online. I just did a lot of research first and the HD600 ended up being exactly what i was looking for

    Headphones for Classical music

I honestly just think the HD600s are some of the best headphones for any genre of music I've ever used. They're probably my favorite headphone made under 1000 dollars, but that's just me and I certainly haven't tried them all.

    Headphones for Classical music

I would HIGHLY recommend the Beyer DT880s for classical. They have a very nice bright and analytically sound that lends itself well to classical, especially through the Schiit Audio Valhalla, but any good amp will do. Some people say the Sennheiser HD598, but I personally think they sound boring...

HD 598 vs HD 600 (which has more detail)

I would say so personally, but I'm kind of an HD600 fanboy. I think they sound better in every way to my ears, but at the end of the day audio is subjective. I recommend you find a way to try both out in person. That's the only way to really know what you want.

HD 598 vs HD 600 (which has more detail)

No, see, the mistake you're making is that you're a normal human being who posts what he wants to post ON HIS OWN THREAD ON AN INTERNET FORUM ABOUT HEADPHONES, as opposed to whatever this guy is trying to be.

Oh, also "don't curse with **** symbols" are you kidding me? I don't think even my great grandmother would be that prudish.

HD 598 vs HD 600 (which has more detail)

Why do you care what he posts? Like seriously, firstly it's his own thread, and second it's an INTERNET FORUM ABOUT HEADPHONES. If you care enough about someone's "odd responses" on an internet forum about headphones enough to "bust" them on it that's honestly just sad.

HD 598 vs HD 600 (which has more detail)

What? He's having perfectly normal conversations with people posting on HIS thread about headphones? This comment makes no sense. Am I understanding that you're trying to "bust" this guy for talking about screwing HEADPHONES on his OWN thread of HEAD-FI? If so, you're a sad individual.

HD 598 vs HD 600 (which has more detail)

I'm not sure I would call them "warm" because that implies that they are a colored headphone. I think the HD600 is one of the most neutral headphones ever made. Anything less "warm," in my opinion, should be considered to be more on the "cold" or "sterile" side. If that's what you want, go for...

HD 598 vs HD 600 (which has more detail)

Having tried both of the headphones in question, I can say with conviction that the HD600 is the way to go, especially if you're into energetic music. The HD600 sounds (to my ears) more clear, more powerful, more detailed, maybe not quite as immediate, but it sounds more life-like. To my ears...

    XB-800 hearing loss

Yeah I can't understand the motivation of wanting that much bass out of in-ear phones honestly. Like even if you're the biggest basshead in the world, isn't having boomy cans that vibrate on your ears like the whole point? With in ears literally all you're achieving is rattling your eardrums...

    New Beats Solo HD Impressions

I don't expect them to really get much positive attention on head-fi, and I'm not exactly their biggest fan. Again, I would consider myself an audiophile and my go to headphones are the Hd600s, I just was wondering if anyone on headfi had any opinions on the revisions we're starting to see. This...

    The hate on beats, why?

At the end of the day you ARE paying more for the design and extra bells and whistles. In my opinion the over-ear Momentum blows the new studio out of the park, but the Mixr is maybe the best DJ headphone ever (I DJ constantly so I've had plenty of experience, and yes it dethrones the HD 25 IMO...

    Finally taking the plunge...

That simply depends on how much you value perfect comfort I suppose. If getting a perfect fit is that important to you, you could always trade them in for something else that are considered to be very comfortable. I've had the same issue with a pair of headphones too. Having headphones that...
