Recently I was crazy/stupid enough to mod my HD800 to sound more like a HD800S by putting a foam ring in the hole. I measured about a 3dB decrease at 6.1khz they're more listenable for longer periods of time.  

What if we don't mind helping you set up ;D

Uh oh, sad to hear that. Unfortunately I'm pretty broke too after the HD800 purchase but I need a new amp and will see if I can help out.

Headbands eh? Introducing... THE KOSSHEISER!   Compared to my modded 558's, the sound stage just as wide but less deep, the highs less refined but still a joy to listen to. It also stays on my head much better when I'm laying on my bed so these will be my sleeping headphones.  ...

While the new HD 558's I got today sound better, they sometimes will have to step aside to my Kramer + reverse Kramer modded KSC-75's with their funner sound presentation to my ears.         I'll be ripping off as much of the back section of my KSC-75's for fun and curiosity   First...
