☠️ I don't think I can ever spend that much on an iem system ☠️

No comment on susvara pairing, but I have experience with the Mikumari, yatono, and orochi headphone cables. They all sound similar to each other, so imo just pick your budget if you're going with Brise. It gets a tad more neutral as you go up in their line (and of course better) with a bit...

@AussieMick have you tried with and without the silicon disks? If so, which one did you prefer?

Surprised there's little mention of Brise. They make top-notch cables imo. I have a custom one I ordered from them that I use on my main HP.

I hope more people try the Yamaha, that headphones' potential is very impressive (best I've heard). And if you nicely ask Brise to try their cable on it, do it! The synergy between the two is something special.

I have the bsep... I enjoy the pairing a lot, but I've not tried their other cables on the 900

I got some in and I think they're very good. Will most likely be ordering more for other components. I find they work even better if you have an isolation platform already in place. The ones I used before these are from gingko isolation. Both of them in tandem work excellently!

Yamaha YH-5000SE — a flagship from an orthodynamic headphones veteran!

If anyone's looking for a nice case for their yammy, I got the audeze aluminum travel case recently (twas on sale). Yes, I had to cut out some foam for it to fit nicely...

I don't have the LE, but fwiw the regular pro sounds nothing like the yammy, two very different cans for sure. What chain would you be running them with, out of curiosity?

Yamaha YH-5000SE — a flagship from an orthodynamic headphones veteran!

Is that model part of their flagship series of equipment? Or is that older? Given how demanding in quality equipment they are (imo), you'll only be able to tell plugged into your specific system. The more polarizing, the greater the potential 😉

Did you ever try an aftermarket cable for them, out of curiosity?

I use a custom Brise cable. I believe they use the universal 3.5 connector, which is simply longer in length at the connection point.

Poor choice of words from me. I'm referring to the nuance behind it. The ability to make a clear distinction between the two, almost like imagining the "shape of an instrument."

As in low sub-bass notes on soundtracks, for example. The furthest ends of the frequency range... Not really sure how much more simple I can make it.

Yamaha YH-5000SE — a flagship from an orthodynamic headphones veteran!

Yeah most of it, but when you play tracks that can take full advantage of that range it's a different experience. There's simply information missing from the utopia that I can get with the yh5k. Regardless of whether the utopia "extends well for a dynamic," it either produces the sound or not. I...

Good choice, I got new parts and they've been really solid ever since. I thought they felt like a prop at first but not anymore.

Are you gonna keep us in suspense on what you got? You didn't send it out to Yamaha to get it fixed? If I recall, they use a proprietary tool to tighten that specific area. Although, I was able to get parts to tighten my slider since I could do that myself.

I tried this track, mostly out of curiosity for the music, but no problems with mine either. I pushed it to uncomfortable levels, but our volume limits may differ.

Yamaha YH-5000SE — a flagship from an orthodynamic headphones veteran!

I use that descriptor lightly, so it's relative to the yh5k. It can always lean a certain way depending on the chain. But I say romantic because of the Utopia's slightly extended decay and smoothness. I find it tends to smooth out texture on instruments like brass which affects the perception of...

Yamaha YH-5000SE — a flagship from an orthodynamic headphones veteran!

IMO... Will most likely come down to synergy with your system, but overall I'd say the yammy are more capable and will scale higher with quality equipment than utopia. In general, if you want something with a wetter and romantic tone I think the utopia are a better pick. If you want something...

Yamaha YH-5000SE — a flagship from an orthodynamic headphones veteran!

I have the utopia (pre-20) and verite closed (not open) for comparison. 3 cans for 3 different tastes. For my taste, yammy slaps the 💩 out of them. But I thought the verite was a fairly good complement for something more forgiving and (extra) weighty. Imo yammy is the most accurate of the two...
