That is not normal, at the most 30 sec. is normal according to fiio support.

When i first received my X3 i was using the USB port to charge the device and after charging i turned on the X3 and all internal memory was erased, this was just the start of my issues. Fiio support helped me restore all lost files but i had them disappear several times, crazy!! 

The DX50 sounds like my X3, every issue is what i have experienced with the X3. Fiio support told me the same thing about the FW 2.1, going back to the previous FW as they requested did not resolve my issues.

I agree, i just want to enjoy and use the product as advertised, my days of fiddling are over. I just hope my new X3 is better.

I do to and despite it`s finicky nature the X3 has enough high quality sound for me to stick with it. My particular unit seemed to have more issues than others, issues that Fiio said should not be happening and after weeks of daily emails with Fiio tech support, Fiio and myself finally gave up...

Yes, and they are really trying to help. We are going step by step thru everything over and over. If the issues are not resolved it will be going back to the Micca Store for exchange.

That is the reason for my original post, to see if it was an isolated issue with my device and by the overall replies it was, that is all that i was trying to find out. The product fills a much needed void in the market, quality and performance verses price it`s usually one or the other.

There is not one to update.   I talked to the Disney tech this afternoon and he knew exactly what i was talking about and said it was not an isolated manufacture`s issue as he has seen and heard of the same issue with devices from all of the manufactures, including Apple, Sony, LG ect. So this...

Both modes say file not found. Yes.   My wife works at Disney/ABC and she talked to one of the tech`s at Disney who will be calling me shortly, she implied that he had some answers.

First, thanks for the input. Have done all of the above and what i get is playback failed file not found.   I had this issue with a camera a few years back, i would take some photos load to the computer all good, other times after taking photos and trying to upload to the computer it would say...

Another note is the internal memory availability, it can be 7.08GB then when i go back and check again it might say 0.00 or 5.07 or some other number but most of the time it`s 7.08. Now i understand why the device lost the memory.

LOL, you must be young as reading your response imply`s. The first sentence of your post does help though as it leads me to believe that there is an issue with my device, as you said nothing should vanish just by charging. Fiio is making thousands of these and i`m sure that they are not all perfect.

The format option was there before but was deleted during the charging.   I`m starting to think i have a unit with a bad memory nothing else makes sense, unless there was some type of spike internally during the charging process.

I do not have storage formatting listed in my menu, below Info/storage i have Restore and above i have Update Lib. The only thing that i did was listen to some of the sampler then charge it before i was going to do the updates. If there is an issue by visiting any of the menu options it should...

I did no updates. I wanted to have a full charge before doing any updates as per the instruction manual. It was fine before i turned it off to charge it.

How can this happen? The storage format command only provides information, there is no interaction. I`m not trying to be combative either, i`m really trying to understand how this happened with no operator input.

I reread what you wrote. So your saying that what i experienced to be normal? since i did not delete a thing. Having been in the audio industry, manufacturing and retail for over 40 yrs. i say this is not normal.
