Smaller replacement for JBL Charge 2 speaker
Hi there, I’ve been travelling for a while carrying a JBL charge 2 and to be honest I am quite happy with the sound quality. It easily fills a small room, and the 2 passive radiators generate quite a deep bass while the main speakers seem to sound pretty nicely too. It’s loud and it’s very...- Johnpdoe2

Anything better sounding than Beoplay H7 in that price range?
Well I’m not very good at describing sound, but I think soundstage and separation of instruments is pretty good. Bass is punchy without being overwhelming and can always be pushed a bit with the EQ-ish that comes with the B&O headphones. Detail is fantastic. The clarity in some tracks towards...- Johnpdoe2

MacOS Users: What player with EQ and FLAC do you recommend?
Hi, What are good macOS music players (I don't care about media library management) that contain a good equalizer and support FLAC? - I have tried obviously VLC, but I find its EQ a bit lacking. - I have tried VOX, and I like the player itself, but the subscription price to get access to the...- Johnpdoe2

Beginner tube build Advice
Thanks a lot for the detailed response. I'll be parking this idea for now then. What about something pre-built like this? Would this work with the Wharfadales? https://www.monoprice.uk/products/tube-amp-with-bluetooth-25-watt-stereo-hybrid Thanks a lot!- Johnpdoe2

B&O H7 Bluetooth Discussion and Impressions
I just got my hands on a refurbished pair of these at a very good price and I like how they sound! To my ears they sound a bit better wired than wireless, but I’m overall happy with the sound signature over Bluetooth. I think I’m going to keep them. In the beoplay app where you can change the...- Johnpdoe2

Beginner tube build Advice
hi, I have at the moment a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 (http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/product.php?pid=49) connected to this amp (https://www.amptastic.com/#mini-1) and using a Mac mini as source. I’m getting an external Dac just to have a play with it that will probably end up connected to...- Johnpdoe2

Anything better sounding than Beoplay H7 in that price range?
Looking for a wireless headphone, with a top budget in the 250-300£ range. Anything better sounding in that price range than the B&O H7? Sound quality and comfort over form and fancy features. I normally listen to pretty chilled music, vocals, indie, jazz, piano. I am looking for: - Over Ear...- Johnpdoe2

Wireless over ear
Hi, I'm in the market for some wireless over ear headphones and I could use some advice. Confort and sound quality are (a lot) more important for me than ANC or fancy features. This is what I've tried/read on: Bose QC 35 II:The ANC really bothers me. The sound was alright but I wasn't...- Johnpdoe2

New Dragonfly Black and Red Discussion
So does the EQ in a software player like VLC degrade the data that gets into the DFR if it's enabled? When using my headphones with vlc and some FLAC files I tried pumping up a bit lower frequencies with VLC's to attenuate the overall bright high signature and noticed a bit of crackle in...- Johnpdoe2

Yeah I think you're right. I might try and get my hands on the DFB then. If anyone in London is looking for a DFR with 1 day of use ping me. I'll give it for 150 instead of the 170 that it cots:)- Johnpdoe2

New Dragonfly Black and Red Discussion
OK, so I got a DFR, and I've been trying it out for a few hours now. Overall I have to say I am not very impressed when comparing it to the MacBook DAC and a simple handmade CMOY amp. I am using FLAC 44.1Khz and APE 44.1 too, and a bit of Spotify Premium. I have zero knowledge of how to...- Johnpdoe2

New Dragonfly Black and Red Discussion
Hi! I read about 65 pages of this thread, and my conclusion is that in the beginning the opinions were a bit all over the place, but there seems to be a good consensus in that at least the Red is a solid product unless used with some Android devices. I still haven't been able to find...- Johnpdoe2

Advice on Living room speakers sub 180£/250$
Hi, So I finally got the Diamond 10.1 and the Amptastic Mini-1 and the sound is fantastic in my opinion. I'm really happy with this setup. Thanks a lot for the recommendations!!! Upgrade from hd555 plus dac/amp recommendation
Thanks, The Fulla looks really nice, but I kinda like the modi/magni stack unless someone has a really good reason to stay away from it. Also I can buy the Amp now and wait a few months till I buy the dac. On the headphones, It looks like the ATH-AD900X and the ATH-AD1000X have loads of...- Johnpdoe2

Upgrade from hd555 plus dac/amp recommendation
Hi and thanks for your reply. To avoid getting a second mortgage I'm setting the limit in 300£. That's why I figured out the modi2/magni2 were a nice option for about 160£, and that I could find some nice cans for another 150£.- Johnpdoe2

Upgrade from hd555 plus dac/amp recommendation
Hi, My main headphone rig is formed at the moment by some Sennheiser HD555 and a BioscienceGeek CMoy amp. This is an old rig and I am looking for an update. The music source is usually a Macbook Pro where I play FLAC music most of the time. I listen to various types of music but generally is...- Johnpdoe2

Advice on Living room speakers sub 180£/250$
That looks really nice. I read somewhere that the Diamond 10.1 require a 20~80W amp. Is that one enough to drive them? Alternatively I've seen there are other models from Topping with similar prices. Thanks a lot!- Johnpdoe2

Advice on Living room speakers sub 180£/250$
Hi, Ok, sounds like a smart option. it looks like the Wharfedale Diamonds 10.1 are discontinued, Anyway, I will try to find them, maybe looking at second hand ones. Those would cost about 100£-150£ give or take? What about the amp? Any decent budget option out there? I don't mind...- Johnpdoe2
