Some have mentioned that the DAC chips are being run 'warm' in this DAC... Is it noticably a space heater? How hot does the case get? Could someone please take and post some case temp measurements?

Someone reminded me today that I forgot to post a follow-up to my post regarding the sound of the Mogwai SE via the 8 ohm headphone jack vs the sound through the speaker taps. Sorry about that... The comparison got side-tracked because I wasn't entirely satisfied with the sound of the speaker...

Interesting... does this configuration produce noticeable background noise, or does the reduced gain eliminate or greatly reduce the potential for background noise when using a high power amp?

FWIW, it seems that there may be other factor(s) at work than just the headphone impedance and efficiency...I tried this mod with a pair of LCD-X (impedance around 20 ohms, 103dB/1mw), and I cannot hear any hum at any volume level. YMMV of course.
