Suggestions for daily train commute headphones?
1More Triple Driver Great price performance. Kind of bassy but overall an enjoyable listen, I didn't have any big complaints. Isolation was very good to my memory, and I don't recall it having a noisy cable. My initial impression was "Seriously? 80 dollars?!" Comes with lots of tips. Happy...- wu wei

Difference between clarity and resolution in a headphone?
When I think of clarity I think of instrument separation. I would describe a headphone (or a system of components) as being clear when instruments and voices don't stumble over one another or bleed together. To me, a resolving system is one where you can hear the ambience around a singer's...- wu wei

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread
I've listened to the NightHawk, NightOwl Carbon and LCD-3 (sorry, not the LCD-2, best I can do) on the same rigs so I'll give you a quick comparison. I found the NightHawk to be quite warm sounding. Diffuse bass, a bit overblown and lower mid range was a bit chesty/muddy. Wasn't a big fan...- wu wei

Sony Z1R....listening impressions only
These are comfy, sexy headphones. How do they sound to me? Uneven. They're choc full of bass...and lower midrange. Mid to treble transition sounds fairly v-shaped. The sibilance these things produce is inescapable, unnatural. Cymbals lack body, they just kind of...hiss and ring. I noticed...- wu wei

Buyer's Remorse: Headphones and earphones you bought on impulse and regretted.
@GloryUprising Yeah I fiddled and fiddled to no avail. If I pressed on the cups so that the drivers nearly touched my ears the sound improved tremendously. But of course I'm not going to do that for hours at a time! The search continues...- wu wei

Which Pair Should I Get For $200?
Just a thought, an extra $100 and you could consider the NAD HP50, which is stylish, audiophile and on my list for next to audition. Just my 2 cents.- wu wei

Buyer's Remorse: Headphones and earphones you bought on impulse and regretted.
The AKG K550 was the only set I was considering that I couldn't audition before purchasing. Between the positive reviews on S&V, Innerfidelity and Whathifi I figured they were worth the plunge for a good sealed can. I was wrong. They had virtually no low end. Female vocals sounded cold and...- wu wei

Bowers & Wilkins P7 - over the ear headphones
I recently auditioned the P7, P5, Sennheiser Momentum, Sony MDR-1R and the AKG K550 and I felt the P7 was the most balanced sounding out of the bunch. They sounded a little dry in the lower treble and sibilance was a little bit of an issue but overall I liked them much better than the others...- wu wei
