Entry Level Southern California Mini-Meet Interest Check
There was no real agreement on a time to meet up, especially since SoCal CanJam was happening. If there are enough interested parties, we can work on trying to set a date.- squee116

Entry Level Southern California Mini-Meet Interest Check
I apologize! I was called to New Hampshire for work, and didn't get any email updates from the thread about other responses! I'm definitely still up for it. I was thinking a room with 2-channel setup and another room with headphone setups. Out of curiosity, what sort of setups would people...- squee116

Depending on the number of people, I can do it at my house in Simi Valley. It's vacant because I'm in the process of redoing it, so we should have plenty of space for 2-channel and many headphone setups. Edit to add: Early June should be doable for me- squee116

Especially for this kind of thing. I'd sort of envisioned the idea as a way for people in the entry level to experience gear and build experience with different tonal balances, strengths, weaknesses, etc and stuff.- squee116

I wonder how many more. The number could affect the venue. I'm currently cleaning out my new place and waiting for work to get done, so that'd be late April, early May at the soonest. If we wanted to rent out a place due to a lot more people, that could change things too.- squee116

I just got a place between the Valley and Ventura. I'm cleaning it out right now, but there might be space for a meet, if everyone is interested.- squee116

My headphone gear list may have grown since I last posted this... I've added the Schiit Valhalla 2, Quicksilver Headphone amp, Ultrasone Performance 880, Focal Elegia, ZMF Auteur, Final Audio Sonorous III, and a handful of chinese and japanese iems.- squee116

BLON BL-30 Review, impressions and discussion thread
They are real crap. I really didn't find any redeeming qualities. Darker than dark, veiled, and I prefer the bass on other headphones in a similar price because almost any details or texture are lost. I just see them as a less refined SHP9600, and I already didn't like the 9600 for being too...- squee116

Entry Level Southern California Mini-Meet Interest Check
Thinking it might be good to get an entry level gear mini-meet going to give new entrants into the audio space a chance to build up experience with attainable headphones and gear (amps, dacs, etc). Or perhaps even just experience some things for ourselves :D Anyhow, if anyone is interested...- squee116

BLON BL-30 Review, impressions and discussion thread
I found the problem to be a combination of those things. I bent the headband, and bent the flanges that connect to the yokes inward. I posted this video talking about it:- squee116

Next step DAC AMP recommendation for HD6XX
The 789 is great. One thing to note, is that some find the multibit DACs a bit warmer than normal Delta Sigma. You might be better off with the Modi 3 or its equivalent.- squee116

Next step DAC AMP recommendation for HD6XX
Try out tubes, see if you like them. The MCTH with SDAC might be a good choice for small footprint. Modi 3 and Vali 2 might also be a good way to go. Not at all against the ifi Micro black label recommend, not sure how the Nano plays with the 6xx. If you want full tubes instead of hybrid...- squee116

Best silver/aluminum desk DAC/Amp under $200
Sorry, you're right. I thought the SDAC had a gray, but it doesn't. However, the Nano LE is an option, not the BL. I thought the Liquid spark was a gray/silver?- squee116

Gaming headphones - From AKG 712 Pro to Massdrop Sennheiser HD 6XX
What about the Cavelli Monoprice Liquid Spark? Is that super expensive where are too? I'm not a fan of the O2, but that's a preference against the sound. What the ifi Nano BL?- squee116

Best ~$500-800 upgrade from 400i and Q701?
The sample size is low, I wouldn't feel shook about it. I'd say look elsewhere, but it largely depends on what you plan to use it for. For music? I'd say the Koss, the Hifiman Sundara, or with a little bit of stretch in budget or buying used, a Stax. Surprisingly, the thx00 is pretty similar...- squee116

Gaming headphones - From AKG 712 Pro to Massdrop Sennheiser HD 6XX
You don't need both. You could use the output from the soundcard or computer direct to an amp, if you decide to get one. Or you could get a combo unit. Or you could get a stack. Whatever floats your boat. The MCTH, Vali 2, Magni 3, maybe the new Monoprice Liquid Spark would be decent amp...- squee116
