Black metal scratches on amp removal tips?
I did a search and couldn't find anything, so I hope it's ok to post here. Audio_Gd Compass 2 I pulled out of storage alas has scratches on it's top. It's metal, likely aluminum, with the common 'gun metal' black finish. Does anybody have any idea how I can fix this?- Gun21

Interesting. Good that they are upgrading, but I can't be arsed selling my unit. It will have to have titty-sparklers for me to do that.- Gun21

Unfortunately, no. I'm in the UK, and we use 230/240v just like you. I got one of these transformers. Simple plug adapters wouldn't work alas.- Gun21

Try other headphones or speakers to try and replicate it. No crap, but I kind of went through exactly what you're describing and couldn't work it out. Tried everything. Turns out I had an ear infection, and for some strange and weird reason an ear infection can sound like electronic static/or...- Gun21

Decent watch. It's not the top end solution of course, but I'm extremely happy with the Monoprice, most especially with my Beyerdynamics. It somehow gets a shedload of extra oomph from this amp. Sounds fantastic.- Gun21

Sounds like a great mod, nice one. I've got a Soundblaster G3 (essentially a cheap dongle with SBX surround) going into my THX amp/dac via optical and it sounds great. Power everywhere with the amp, and also a nice interface and equalizer to tweak away with on the SB software (see pic below)...- Gun21

@Chastity Brilliant post +10. I've always liked SBX for the least intrusive reverb. You don't need to remember to switch it off everytime if you want to watch a YouTube video - I find it the most usable. The others have too much reverb - you really have to remember to switch it off for normal...- Gun21

Multi monitor, no, because of the multiple bezels. Maybe they can get around it in the future as the company is always updating the software. My 21:9 3440x1440 monitor is at the usable max, and all you need to look side to side is move your head (it tracks both your eyes and your head btw). It's...- Gun21

I didn't notice that you have the K712pro, honestly I think you're sorted. I got the HD800S cos I had the money to grab one. Edit: Check out this great channel Gaming Audio Guide- Gun21

Me too. With the headtracker however, it's expensive, way too expensive. I know you're paying for the software development and not the hardware (like TrackIR), but at least they could've made it a wireless solution. On a sidenote, I've just upgraded to the Tobii 5 Eyetracker, and man it's good...- Gun21

I still use SBX when required @motorwayne. I went from a Fidelio X1/ Sounblaster Z/ Audio_Gd Compass2 to the HD800S and THX (with a G3); it's better, but not miles better. Also, I wouldn't upgrade from your AE-9 tbh, and I'm sure NamelessPFG could advise you on that. I do know that the HD660s...- Gun21

A tiny little bit of black paint has exposed the silver plastic underneath on the frame of my otherwise perfect condition HD800S. Any ideas of how I could touch it up?- Gun21

Audeze LCD-X
I'm torn between the LCD-2 (not Classic) and the LCD-X. I have the HD800S so I want a headphone to offset them with some hefty bass. Any pointers would be appreciated!- Gun21

Yes, 5 bands and you can choose the frequency for each band. Good idea to use Equalizer APO to find your values and then set them on the amp.- Gun21

How are the LCD-Xs for gaming? Accurate imaging is primary here, followed by a decent soundstage. Nice to know that you can purchase an Audeze microphone (like the GX).- Gun21

Yes, but it's a pain with the extra wires and all the farting around, especially so if you are swapping out your other headphones/sets and their microphones, and have to reconfigure stuff in Windows. As I say, I'd pay for a HD800S version of the below :)- Gun21
