Open headphones by design do not isolate against background noise. To put it simply you will hear everything and everything will cover up your music so the high sound quality of the headphones won't matter since you wont be able to hear it.

I didn't know the OP was using these them outdoors. If so then Sefelt103 is right: Do not buy the HD598 if you are going to listen to music outdoors.

I personally don't like any of the affordable audiophile music players on the market simply because their UI is crap. You could always drop the Iphone idea and get an Android phone like the Galaxy S5 or HTC One M8 (my top personal picks due to having the cleanest audio output according to...

    1. Legal methods - buy the cd or online stores like HDtracks      Illegal method - torrent  2. Generally a decent music player would not require an external amp. Is there any particular player you're looking at?

From the top of my head for me , a dream dap would be   - Roughly 4 inch touchscreen  (no more than 4.3inch)  - minimum 64 internal storage - 2x microsd slots - roughly iphone 5 length and width - 1.5- 2cm in thickness - 700-800USD - At least 10hrs battery life - Physical buttons for...

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

If portability isn't an issue, have you considered the Audio Technica ATH A900x. They may have some fitting issues but I think you would enjoy them. I think they are more comfortable than the HP50's and since you only use them at home, they would probably be better. Best to demo them before...

    HP50's vs. Momentum's

Hi there   I happened to have tried the momentums and can say I much prefer the HP50's (so much so that I bought it). This is due to the HP50's having a larger soundstage, tighter bass and better comfort (due to larger earpads) while the momentums sounded rather congested.    Lastly the...

Help me decide!! HipHop/RAP BASS LOVER!!

V-moda m100 is a bass heavy can that is good for hip hop and electronic music. They also have excellent build quality.  Do you have a set budget or anything? Also what's your source and is it for home use and/or on the go?

Is there anything that holds over 160 gigs?

Astell & Kern AK120?   64gb internal memory and 2 micro sd slots that hold 64gb each. But you may not like the price.

Not worldwide yet I think. I think Asia has them and also where I live (Australia).

    Over-the-ears for my portable rig.

I suggest the NAD Viso HP50, got them a couple of days ago and they sound excellent imo. I find that they have a warm sound signature with a nice punchy bass with clear treble and mids.

    Sony MDR-1R series MK2

I would assume, other than the cable change, that Sony would have fixed the jack rattle issue that plagued the original....well I hope they do

NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

I just got my HP50's today and may I say it sounds absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately I don't own any other headphones of similar type to do a comparison so I won't comment on the sound (I like it and that's all that matters )   Comfort wise, I believe they are excellent. They fit me rather...

I just ordered a pair online and they should come sometime next week. For my first pair of decent full sized headphones, I really hope they are good.

    Sony MDR-1R series MK2

So has anyone decided to buy the mk2 yet? I am hoping for a comparison to come up between the mk2 and original before I decide the jump the gun

Get MDR-1R mk2 or wait for NAD VISO HP50?

Any NAD Viso HP50 owners out there who have also owned or tried the original MDR-1r who's willing to convince me, I'm all ears

    Sony MDR-1R series MK2

From the  Sony Asia website they stated that the air vents on the MK2 are enlarged which apparently improves bass response in comparison to the original. Other than some cable additions there's no other changes as far as I'm aware.   Here's the site: http://www.sony-asia.com/product/mdr-1rmk2...

Hi guys   As the thread title says, should I jump for the MDR 1R mk2 for $310AUD or wait for the NAD viso hp50 ($350AUD)which is going to be released in early December in Australia.  I've heard great things about the NAD but my strong desire to move up in the audio world along with my already...
