I'm amping it with a LD2 not hooking my headphones directly to the transit.. it's the usb carrying the noise the LD2 has great low-noise sound when I hooked it up to my archos.

I listen to classical around 65DB and j-rock around 75DB on my computer with my AKG 501's I just got (gotta turn it up a little to drown out the cpu fan/harddrives clicking every 2 seconds) when I use my UE super.fi 3's with my portable probably 5-10 DB less

I've just picked up a pair of AKG-k501's and upgraded my soundcard in my system to a TerraTec DMX 6 fire pro. Would this plus a cmoy be enough to drive the 501's ok or is there an amp (not a kit please!) for under $120 that would drive these headphones better ?
