Kennerton ODIN, MAGISTER, VALI, Magni, Gjallarhorn, Rögnir, Thridi, Wodan, Thekk, and Thror Discussion.
If it bothers you and you don't mind the extra weight, maybe ask the Kennerton team if you can get the Odin mk2 grills instead.- Greg02

Kennerton ODIN, MAGISTER, VALI, Magni, Gjallarhorn, Rögnir, Thridi, Wodan, Thekk, and Thror Discussion.
Almost exactly a year after I first heard heard the Odins, I finally have my hands on a pair! I snagged the sample pair, which seemed perfect for me as it has my favorite incarnation of the drivers with the lighter grills and new headband. Only a couple songs in, but it's instant magic.- Greg02

Best Closed-Backs Money Can Buy
I briefly listened to it at CanJam NYC. I'm probably not the best person to give impressions of them considering it was such a quick listen and I didn't get to choose the music, but in my opinion, not worth it. It lacks the ethereal soundstage that makes the HD800 special. That said, I've never...- Greg02

Are they? I didn't notice them leaking noise, but it would certainly explain some things.- Greg02

Best Closed-Backs Money Can Buy
The only pair of closed headphones I've ever been truly impressed with are the Meze Empyreans. They're huge and power hungry so not portable in the slightest, but to me represent a big step up in sound quality from headphones like the HD820 and Ether C.- Greg02

Is the Tror the evolution of what seemed to be Odin Mk3 drivers that were shown at CanJam London this year, or is it something new entirely?- Greg02

CanJam London 2017 Impressions Thread (July 15-16, 2017)
I tried the Lionheart and Leonidas. I'd be hesitant to say that they're necessarily warmer than stock though, because according to https://doublehelixcables.com/product/eidolic-4-pin-sirens-series-jh-connectors-for-layla-and-more/ the 4 pin connector adds +15dB of bass and resistors are needed...- Greg02

CanJam London 2017 Impressions Thread (July 15-16, 2017)
Some scattered impressions from the gear I heard this weekend: I was most impressed by far with the Kennerton equipment, especially the Odin. I'm absolutely addicted and kept coming back to listen some more. I tend to like fairly flat, analytical sound signatures; the Kennerton tuning manages...- Greg02

Kennerton Odin (listening impressions)
Bar none my favorite headphone that I heard today at CanJam London. Blew everything from the Susavara to the Stax SR-009 out of the water. I tend to prefer more analytical headphones with relatively flat signatures; the Odins managed to impart a 'musicality' on the sound without sacrificing...- Greg02

Questyle QP2R
Is the implication here that they test a comprehensive subset of MicroSD cards 200GB and below? I'll admit, I don't understand what the failure mode with high capacity cards is. I'd assume that the physical board requirements are the same for each card (certainly SD slots on computers can read...- Greg02

The Fiio X5 Thread
Thanks for the response. I find this stuff fascinating, partially because I don't think I have listened to enough high end audio equipment to know what I actually like. The step up from throwaway headphones to nicer ones allowed me to actually hear more of the music (like words in the...- Greg02

The Fiio X5 Thread
If I currently have a CMOY amp and an iPod Classic powering Beyerdynamic DT 770s (220 ohm), will I need/want a new amp? Will a sub-200USD amp actually offer better sound quality than using the X5 alone?- Greg02

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum
Does anyone have any recommendations in the ~150 USD range? I'm looking for a closed pair of headphones for use on trains/in public in particular. As a result, good isolation (and no noise leakage) is fairly important. I'm hoping to find something that's comfortable and over the ear. I...- Greg02
