I'll be there briefly to buy something from an attendee, and maybe listen to some of the HeadAmp rigs.  Unfortunately, I won't be able to stay there for too long (probably less than an hour).

Does the control panel allow you to mute the outputs separately?

Dynamic drivers, defective or not, should not produce any noise when there is no signal. Most likely, you just didn't notice the noise with other headphones. You are probably hearing the noise now because the HD595 is more detailed and/or sensitive.

In general, the inverted signal shouldn't sound any different. It certainly won't do any damage to single-ended downstream components.
