I can only speak for the first generation which is much better than Gen 3 in my opinon. The T1 first gens are far superior to the T5 first gens. However they are used for 2 very different things. The T1's take a lot of power and the T5's are made to be portable. Also the T1's are open...

I have a pair of the 600ohm dt880's and a MKIV SE as well as the Asgard 2.  Both work well with the DT880's but I prefer the MKIV se.  In fact, I can't believe how good the amp sounds with all my beyers (I have the T1's, 770's, 990 as well).  It is an incredibly cheap amp and sounds amazing. ...
