The Bifrost I ordered was the basic version and without usb.  When I try it out I'll be using optical from my laptop.  Also, to dalb, did your unit have a transformer hum or did it have other issues? 

Lorspeaker, thanks for the advice.  I'm tempted to give the AudioGd a try.  I come across rave reviews of their stuff but, their sketchy looking website and no u.s. based dealer worried me a bit.  I've got a schiit stack on order and I'm hoping it satisfies my upgrade sickness for the time being.

Anyone out there have experience listening to the HD600, or other cans, through both the Nuforce HDP and Schiit gear (biforst / asgard / valhalla / lyr)?  I'm looking to upgrade from the HDP but budget is limited to ~ $600.
