I know most people won't agree with my view I love my hd650's and for some reason I prefer the hd700 over the hd800. Go figure

I would be in for a mini meet I've got a hd650 and wa3 amp, bitfrost uber dac. I would make the trip if there were a few people going.

Thank you for the info I'm stuck between the bitfrost dac and dac magic plus money isn't a worry. The only reason I'm worried about the Bitfrost is because its a sponsor of headhifi and I'm not sure if the hype is as good as the dacmagic

Well I can run a few otl amps (wa3 even little dot mk3) and have no white noise at all. Even tried a crack and the wa6 With different dacs into my pc also from a labtop. Unless I just got a faulty lyr from schiit after a few days I sent it back. I would've got a replacement but looking around...

To be fair I've always prefered tube amps the only reason I didn't like the lyr was because of the low level white noise that I found a little distracting. Whether it was down to a faulty unit I just preferred the otl wa3 because in my rig there was no white noise and the mids were silky smooth...

I do think that the hd650,s are picky with there amp sources. I love the hd650 but if I listen to it say thru the asus stx soundcard I get bored after a few minutes. Going with a tube amp like wa3 even the little dot mk3 I can listen for hours on end. Even an ss amp like the lehmann sounds...

Has anyone tried the mullards 8101?? Just curious as they don't sound very good treble is very harsh.

I've only heard the wa3/wa6, schiit lyr and wa6se unfortunately I haven't had the chance to audition the wa2 yet that is :-).

I bought the mullards m8100 and the treble is ridiculous. This might change during burn in but I'm very happy with the voskod ef95. This is with a pair if hd650

Don't get me wrong i like schiit products but the lyr versus wa3 or wa6. Think the lyr struggles to compete unless your talking about the price.

Well you can try Dolby and see if you like it, I think majority of people do . Just make sure the xonar stx settings are on 600ohm settings and not at default 32ohms.

The little dot mk3 and hd650 is a good combo for the price but the wa3 just seems to slightly win overall between the two. Bass has slightly more impact and there seems to be more detail in instruments playing. The music is just more engaging not that I'm knocking the little dot they both do...

How does the he500 sound in comparison to the hd650? I was thinking of buying a new set of cans I'm keeping the hd650 but was thinking either hd700 or he500

I have used the bitfrost and wa6se and it sounds awesome but its almost 4 times the price of the stx so no surprises there.

No unfortunately I was only able to try them with SS amps e.g black cube lehmann I too prefer tube amps but for some reason there was none there.
