The Official Sony MDR-Z1R Flagship Headphone Thread (Live From IFA 2016)
The Fostex TH900 isn't good when it comes down to leakage, so don't buy them if you don't want to hear sounds from outside cause you will hear it all.- Helstar

Headphones for metal music - ultimate solution
Totally agree, i use the TH900's for over 4 years now, my main music is metal (thrash/death/heavy/progressive/symphonic) and I love them. I recently bought the Lawton update (cups/pads and tuning) which makes em even better.- Helstar

The Official Sony MDR-Z1R Flagship Headphone Thread (Live From IFA 2016)
So there's this itch I need to scratch but I can't seem to make up my mind. I already own the Fostex TH900's which I absolutely love, but after 4 years I'd like to expand my horizon with a new set of headphones. Should I go for the new Sony's or is it too much the same sound? Would it be wiser...- Helstar

Review: Violectric HPA V200 amp
The V200 has rca inputs, I use them connecting my Mytek to the V200 with RCA cables. Not tried the xlr connections yet, but I read that it should't make much of a difference (if any) if you use cables that aren't too long.- Helstar

Review: Violectric HPA V200 amp
I think the match between the v200, Mytek 192 DSD and Fostex TH900 is great. My 1st impression was that the combo was a bit bright, but now that the v200 has burned in I love the sound. Can't really say that the v200 is warm/tubey, I think it's pretty neutral but perhaps that's because of the...- Helstar

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
If dac's and amps don't matter, why are there so many different ones ranging from $ 25 to $ 10000 ? I can't believe that a dac wouldn't matter. Just like the amp, they are (imo) equally important in the chain that creates the music no matter how easy a headphone is driven. (or I am just...- Helstar

Mytek Stereo 192 DSD DAC/Preamp/Amplifier Thread
Thx for the review. I received my V200 a couple of days ago. First impression was that it was kinda bright in combination with the Mytek and my Fostex TH900 phones, brighter than the TH900's straight from the Mytek amp, which I think is kinda weird since the V200 should be much warmer than the...- Helstar

Mytek Stereo 192 DSD DAC/Preamp/Amplifier Thread
Yesterday I ordered a Violectric V200 to go with my Mytek DAC (and Fostex TH-900). Very interested in your impressions with the xlr vs rca connections. I was just asking myself if I should go and buy new xlr cables.- Helstar

Fostex TH900 Impressions & Discussion Thread
Quote: The nr 1 reason for me buying the TH900 is the fact that they are closed and don't leak (even though they do leak some sound). I just wanted the best all round closed-back cans that were available. Enter TH900.- Helstar

I would rather worry about the one screw holding the cups to the headband. I think the finish will do fine if you handle the cans carefully..- Helstar
