    Seattle Meet Saturday Sept, 7

I don't see anything new on the Facebook page yet. When the date was set for the September meet, the announcement was made on both the Facebook Can Meets page, as well as on this forum. Suspect the same for future meets, so stay tuned . . . :)

Seattle Meet Off the Chain 9/7

Both "Lucia" and "Aenor" amps were clear and detailed. I especially liked the sound of the Aenor amp with my HD600's. Thanks for bringing them both.

Seattle Meet Off the Chain 9/7

Update: Couldn't wait to try it. My HD600's actually do provide a bit of slam, but not as much as I felt with the other systems (both with modded HD800's) mentioned. Happiness, nonetheless. :)

Seattle Meet Off the Chain 9/7

First of all, thanks to Big Poppa for organizing and setting up the event. This was only the second meet I've been to in 6 or 8 years, and must say the amount and variety of the gear seems to be growing. There were a lot of nice systems, and of course didn't have time to check it all out. I'm...

    Seattle Meet Saturday Sept, 7

I agree. Being able to try them on is essential in selecting something that works for you. And by the way, thanks for the other comparison info that you posted. I'll have to look at it in more detail. Before I chose my headphones, I went to a meet and took notes. My two main considerations...

    Seattle Meet Saturday Sept, 7

I attended one of these meets maybe 5 or 6 years ago, but this is the first time that I have my own gear to bring. I'm planning on bringing my HD600's and a new tube amp that I just finished in June (see Avatar). Also, a Periodic Audio earphone. (I'll have extra foam inserts) Anxious to...

sizing up power output for diy headphone amp

Yes, I got the output transformers about 4 or 5 (?) years ago. It's taken a while to get work done on this project. Lots of honey-do things got in the way. Thanks, I'm better at woodworking than wiring, but took my time on both. Really like the sound.

sizing up power output for diy headphone amp

It's alive! I guess I had to retire in order to finish it. One of my audio club friends designed the circuit, and had ONetics make the OTs for it. It uses 0D3 voltage regulators and 5842 triodes. Volume control is a 50k 48-step Khozmo attenuator. The case is made with padauk and...

    THE DIY HEADPHONE STAND THREAD

Indeed!  Time to dish up a generous helping of creamy blues and some juicy jazz -- along with maple nut swirl!  Kick back and enjoy! Great idea!

    THE DIY HEADPHONE STAND THREAD

Had this on the "to do" list for awhile, and finally got around to it this past week. Always partial to wood grain, and cherry seemed appropriate here. Still need to apply some paste wax with a little elbow grease. Total cost:  about 8 dollars and 43 hours.  (edit: added naked photo)

sizing up power output for diy headphone amp

I typically listen at around 70 - 75 dB, and it's probably about that with my HD600's. That gives me some chance of hearing the telephone, or somebody calling me (yes, dear?). Occasionally maybe 85 dB, so the 100-110 max spl sounds like a good target. ONetics is available to me locally, so...

sizing up power output for diy headphone amp

Thanks both for the responses.   I built a SE tube amp (kit) for speakers a couple of years ago, and now have a desire to go through the design process for a SE tube amp for headphones.  My headphones are the Sennheiser HD600's with 300 ohm nominal impedance.   I recently finished building a...

sizing up power output for diy headphone amp

Looking for help from diy tube amp designers. Provided that the headphones can handle the power, what dB level should be considered a design maximum SPL? (90 dB? 95 dB? 100 dB? other?)

Quattro de mayo Seattle meet impressions

I've been thinking about getting headphones, and when I found out about this meet, I figured it would be a good opportunity to check out a few.  I had no idea what I was in for!  I'm sure everyone had their own "favorites", but in all fairness, each has its own strengths above others in...

Quattro De Mayo Seattle meet. 5/04/13 West Seattle Library

New to the forum, and new to headphones.  Got the date on my calendar - don't have any head gear yet, but thought it would be a good opportunity to see (hear) what's out there.
