What book are you reading right now?

I finished Consider Phlebas by Iain M. Banks. The book has aged remarkably well (it was published in 1987). Even though nearly a third of the book had little to do with the main plot, I found it an enjoyable read.   Minor Spoiler below.

Does Anyone Else Dislike 3-D Films?

I think that current 3D technology is too immature. For one thing, I wear glasses, so having to wear 3D glasses on top of another pair just dosen't work very well. In addition to this, you can't really look at the background in 3D movies since the "3D effect" blurs it all out, and I personally...

Rate The Last Movie You Watched

I saw The Big Lebowski for the first time yesterday. I thought it was quite funny although it felt a little disjointed at times (although that might have added to its weird charm). Overall I enjoyed it. [8/10]

how many of you guys cook???

Quote: It's really my friend's recipe slightly tweaked. but I'll take credit for it if you end up liking it. :)   For ~4-5 lb of chicken thighs (I keep the skin and bones) I like to put in equal parts soy sauce and white vinegar. In this case ~1/2 a cup each. You can use different...

how many of you guys cook???

I made some chicken adobo (Filipino dish) today. Like most of my cooking endevors it's not much too look at, but it was easy to make and (IMHO) tastes pretty good.

Something to drive my Sennheiser PC 350

I've never used the Xonar U3 before but unless you have some exotic setup it should work fine. You might have to change the default soundcard on your OS though.   That being said, I suspect that the "surround sound" is going to be some software manipulation so you'll probably have to install...

What book are you reading right now?

Quote: I've used a friend's kindle and I can see why some people would prefer ebooks, but it's physical books for me 100%. I just really like holding paper books and wandering the bookshelves of a bookstore or library is something I really enjoy (found some good books by judging them by...

Something to drive my Sennheiser PC 350

My company provides these headphones and everyone I've seen (including myself) uses them directly from their desktops/Thinkpad T430s/MacBooks without any problems. From my desktop I don't think I ever put the volume setting above 30%. So I don't think an amp is necessary if you want to save some...

The diary entries of a little girl in her 30s! ~ Part 2

Everyone seems to be talking about rice here so I feel obligated to chime in. :)   My family has always eaten medium grain white rice with pretty much everything (we're Korean) and so that's my favorite kind. Preferably on the softer, sticker side. Unfortunatly my blood sugar levels are...

「Official」Asian Anime, Manga, and Music Lounge

Quote: Well yes, but teeth are also something you are born with, and most people are born with teeth that function fine without braces. Hence the comparison between eyelid surgery and braces (both are fairly permanent moifications to the body for mostly cosmetic reasons).   That being...

What book are you reading right now?

I recently finished reading Outside the Dog Museum by Jonathan Carroll. I have mixed feelings about it. There were parts of the book there were great but on the whole it wasn't quite as cohesive as I would have liked, and the ending was inconclusive. That being said, I thought it was an...

++ FULL-SIZE HEADPHONE RECOMMENDATIONS THREAD++ CLOSED: Please post a thread in the Introductions, Help and Advice forum

Hello,   I am looking to buy a new set of headphones and would appreciate any advice.   I own a Grado SR-80i and bought an AKG K701 as an upgrade. Unfortunatly, I like my Grado's better then the AKGs. While I enjoy the AKG's increase in detail, the Grado's sound more involved which I...
