I find them to give out as much clamping force as the M50's first had, which is a little too much.  They can be slightly looser, and hopefully that will happen with some adjustments and a little break in time.  Personally I'll withstand a little discomfort in exchange for outstanding audio...

I just got these today, and they're everything I expected and them some.  I also picked up a Fiio E07K which is on the way.  I'm have my doubts though.  How in the world can an amp(mind you, I've never used one before)possibly the already excellent sounds of the 99's?

Would these be a good upgrade to M50's?  I tried with a pair of Senn 595's and a pair of ATH-A900x.  The lack of bass in those two turned me off, so I sent them back.  I usually listen to my headphones plugged straight into an ipod or into my laptop.

I had both of these at one point.  They were both used unamped, straight into an IPod or Macbook.  I really liked the vocals and drums on the 595, but I thought that the low frequencies were sorely lacking.  The M50 where not quite as clear on the midrange and highs as the 595, but the lows made...

I got the m50 off unique squared for $97 and the Senn 595 for $117 from Amazon around Christmas time.  595's have a nicer midrange and highs but I like the 50's better overall.  I find myself not even wanting to listen to the 595's anymore and they might be returned shortly.  50's are a sweet...

I just got both the M50's and Senn 595's.  Both are very impressive.  While I love the detail in the 595(vocals, snare drum strikes actually sound different! high hat and crash/ride cymbals are awesome) the bass on the M50's really kick.  I find that the percussion on the M50 is not as detailed...
