USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

Haha good point. I’ll go for the dc04 pro. Seems to be the best bang for buck.

Great review! I would have to agree with most of your points.

Congratulations! They are the only headphone I've ever owned that continues to impress me each time I put them on.

They cannot be V shaped when there is no emphasis in the treble. It is the smoothest I've ever heard.

I owned the nighthawk and z7 as well and found the z7 to sound far more cloudy, less vivid, and thinner than the nighthawk. It's soundstage also wasn't as large. Although it's build and comfort are superb, the sound of the z7 seemed like that of a 300$ headphone in my opinion, especially...

What are the smoothest sounding headphones?

I would suggest the audioquest nighthawk.

I've had both the pm2 and ps500e and I preffered the ps500e by far. It is far more dynamic, far more transparent, has more treble but isn't too bright or strident, and it has a much more airy and open sound. The oppo has great mids, but lacks the detail and impact that the grado has.

FAD Sonorous VI or AQ Nighhawk? Which and why :)

Closest sound to the Hope iv I can remember is the shure 1540 which is ergonomically amazing, very well built and super comfortable. The sound is somewhat comparable as well, but nothing has the same final audio design house sound.

FAD Sonorous VI or AQ Nighhawk? Which and why :)

I owned the iv and the vi at the same time and found myself grabbing the iv more often because it was lighter, and had very similar sound when using the same pads. This is when they were called fad pandora hope though, before they were sonorous.

FAD Sonorous VI or AQ Nighhawk? Which and why :)

I have owned both and I would go for the nighthawks which I still own. The Pandora is awesome too, but not nearly as comfortable, and it does not have the same thick, smooth, natural sound of the nighthawk. The nighthawk has a larger soundstage, better instrument separation, while the Pandora...

    The Sony MDR-SA5000 Thread

400$ seems like a very good price for these, had them at the same time as the t1 v.1 and preferred the sa5000. They have electrostatic speed, and exert gobs of detail.

I owned the lcd X about a month ago and I can say that while it has better bass and mids than the nighthawk, the nighthawk has a better soundstage, imaging, and I prefer it's treble presentation. The nighthawk is also far more portable, comfortable, and more efficient.

    The Sony MDR-SA5000 Thread

Wow, I've had these for about a week now and they have forced me to sell my audeze X and beyerdynamic t1! They are highly resolving, and remind me of electrostats in the way they retrieve detail. Absolutely stunning, I prefer these to the HD800 and I am rather confused to why Sony would...

I can definetly agree with you here. Yes I do believe the nighthawks are more well rounded but in terms of transparency and being as close to the recording as possible, grados, the ps500e and gs1000i are unmatched. Perfect intimate presentations for acoustic, jazz, and folk.

    Sony CD3000 Thread

I may look into getting them recabled, though I'll admit I've never been one to believe that a cable will noticeably improve the sound. The soundstage is fantastic for a closed phone, that may be what surprised me the most! Either that, or how beautiful the mids are. To die for!

    Sony CD3000 Thread

These headphones are AMAZING! Just got a pair in and they sound better than my nighthawks, and I actually prefer them to the hd800 as well. They are supremely dynamic and fast sounding, probably the most 3d sounding headphones I've ever heard, and also the closest to a live performance that I've...

I owned both the gs1000i and ps500e at the same time and found the ps500e to be superior when using the same pads. I honestly loved the gs1000i though, it is my third favorite headphone I've owned right behind the nighthawk and ps500e, and in front of the hd800.

I'm using the skinnier generic cable as well as I found it to be a bit smoother sounding that the main cable which sounded thicker, notes had more density. I honestly I think the SQ between the two cables is fairly even just comes down to preference.

I find that my pair has a perfect amount of clamping force instantly when I put them on. That is coming from someone who has a smaller head. Perfect comfort.

    NEW 2015 - HIFIMAN HE400S

Just got a pair of these and I'm very impressed! I believe these are a much better buy than the fidelio x2 which I found to be lacking in treble resolution. These sound like a planar hd650 to my ears which is a great feat especially at their price.

Best headphone to compliment an AKG K-812?

Definitely look into the nighthawks! I'm looking at the akg to compliment my nighthawks. Sounds like they are complete opposites.

+1 I would also like to know which headphones you find to be better sounding at half the price.
