  I have auditioned the Velvet/Litz combo and concur with this.   I found the bass to be tighter and more controlled than the stock cable, with improved imaging and slightly wider sound stage.

  You want something like the Fiio L5 LOD cable. I believe companies like Bispa also make similar cables and you can also buy the spare parts if you want to try making it yourself.  

  I was under the impression that the ZX2 (and other Walkman products) did have line out capability, but you need to purchase/make a WM-port to 3.5mm cable in order to use it.

  I believe this warning has to do with Japanese regulations for wifi devices and other equipment that emits a radio signal. Products sold in Japan are supposedly tuned such that they will not use frequencies reserved for other types of signals (radio broadcasts, emergency communications etc)...

From the photo, it looks like the tuning dials on the Crystal Edition are made of metal, which is a good sign. Did anyone else have a problem with the grooves on soft plastic dials on the original wearing away over time?   Also, it looks like it is open for pre-order from Musica Acoustics...

  I should give the caveat that the first time I heard the AK240 was on the weekend and it had the shortest audition time out of the three due to the huge line at the Astell & Kern booth, so please take my impressions with a grain of salt.     At the same time, I think it's also possible...

Straight out of the box, I would say the AK240 is the most detailed and spacious sounding. As many people have mentioned, the Calyx M is quite warm sounding, but at the same time is also provides plenty of detail and great instrument separation - so much so that I really didn't mind the warmth...

  I tried both the Plenue 1 and Calyx M at the e-earphone Portable Audio Festival in Tokyo over the weekend and was able to speak to respective company representatives and also current owners of both units.   Calyx owners complained of slow operation and short battery life amongst other bugs...
