both, I have a 701 & a 600, and alternate between the 2 depending on my mood. The 600 when I want to headbang and the 701 to really listen and involve myself into the music. RJD's vocals on mob rules and heaven & hell are awesome over the 701s.

nice to know you solved your problem. for an even better sound, get an iPad line out dock and use the audio signal from there.

the Yamaha AVRs pair up well with Wharfedales. the Wharfs added a lot of warmth to the Yammie's smooth sound.

My bediside rig is a Little Dot 1+ pushing an AKG K701 with a 160GB iPod as a source. The LD is set to low gain and works extremely well with my 701s. These plus a Kindle gets all the kinks out after a long stressful day.
