Can't find AKG 272 HD's for under $300...
The cheapest I can find them for is $329.95 at amazon , while the (nearly) identical 271 mkII's are selling for ~ $150.00. If memory serves, last year the 272's were selling for about $150 as well... has anyone seen that price recently? I was more interested in the 272's because they...- Saint_1

Moth Lovers of Europe- This is a Moth si2a3/45h / Eddie Current Black Rose (220V).
I believe it uses Electraprint transformers, I'll have to check. Also, I think the "Si" stands for "Single-ended Integrated" IIRC, there were only five made...- Saint_1

The Moth S2A3...has landed!
Great info there -- thanks, recstar. I've always liked the original s2a3 too. I knew about some of the differences -- but a lot of what you mentioned was new to me. I think you're right about the s2a3's aesthetics, too. Visually, I think it's one of the greatest pieces of equipment around...- Saint_1

The Moth S2A3...has landed!
great reviews! Thanks for the info, recstar -- I've been considering getting a pair of GS-1000s ... Good to know the moth works well with grados too. kentamcolin, the EML 45's are next on my 'tube do' list. I was considering the mesh plate, but you prefer their solid?- Saint_1

The Moth S2A3...has landed!
Howdy all, Been away from the forums for quite a while... Anyway, nice score recstar. Did Tyrion sell you his unit? Gotta love the original s2A3. IIRC it has the retro cloth-covered power cable too, right? Any more impressions coming? I'd love to hear more about its synergy with your...- Saint_1

New smilies are awful IMO
Pink is right... This Winky's awful... 'Stroke victim' is a great description. For some reason when I first saw it I thought it was a (failed) attempt at a wry, ironical half-smile kinda like Harrison Ford (?) Blinky's good though!!! !!! -saint- Saint_1

Is Omega2 like a refined HD650?
There was actually a decent Stereophile review of the Omega II a while back, the reviewer ended up prefering the lushness of his reference Cary/HD 600 combo... BTW hasn't the srm007t tube amp since been discontinued?- Saint_1

How Loud Do You Listen?
Do you all find that your favorite headphones have a 'sweet spot?' Is there a volume where they just seem to open up and come alive? Let's hear about it!- Saint_1

WooAudio 6 is here!!
Wow, it's only 600? I never even checked on the price, but for some reason I was thinking ~900.. If it can drive low imp. phones this well too, it might prove to be quite the bargain...- Saint_1

Wow, Wooaudio 6 !
Another thing to think about is turning the amp on and off. Tubes take a few minutes to warm up and a few more to sound their best. Also constantly turning them on and off shortens their life significantly. For this reason, some people leave them on all the time. To me this is excessive. I...- Saint_1

Wow, Wooaudio 6 !
Yeah, use a nice steady pressure to push them in. It can be tight, so when you remove them you may have to wiggle them a little bit. And yup, tubes get hot - just like an incandescent light bulb. So how does it sound!- Saint_1

Here's another question for you: what did NOS tubes cost at the time of manufacture? Obviously they fetch a premium now because they're basically 'collector's items,' albeit collectibles that have use value... Just how inflated are today's prices?- Saint_1

SCD-1
You know for some reason I always see different weights advertised for the SCD-1. I'm sure Sony's is accurate, though. I think most people just estimate... I've seen it listed at anywhere from 50 - 70+ lbs. Don't worry, something heavy's coming to you, and unless it's a box of rocks you got...- Saint_1

Bummer nichi, oh well, waiting builds character! (or causes unbearable pain). It looks beautiful by the way! Love the brushed steel and the socket head screws. And it has an impedance selector on the back! -- Might be quite a badass with k701s or Grados. Oh, and iomagic, Don't worry, we...- Saint_1

Listening to the Moth/ Eddie Current si2A3
Well, I don't know if anyone cares, since this amp is no longer being made. but I thought I'd put down these impressions anyway. I'm just going to cut and paste from a mesage I sent to james3toe, the previous owner. If any MothEddie fanboys are interested, I can add more... My first...- Saint_1
