Combined DAC and AMP Ran Off USB Power

Another option is to go the discrete part route:  TPS72301 for -4.5V rail LP5907 for +4.5V rail TPS60403 for Inverting Charge Pump This would actually provide a system with even lower noise. What kind of filtering should be done on the USB 5V line before or after the regs/charge pump?   Thanks

Combined DAC and AMP Ran Off USB Power

Thanks - looked through that thread earlier...   I was really hoping someone could comment on the use of the LTC3260. Unlike that thread I only need +- 4.5-5 volts on the rails. Are the LDO outputs of this IC clean enough? If I remember correctly they are 100uV RMS. It would be pretty great if...

Combined DAC and AMP Ran Off USB Power

Hi everyone, A few months back I designed and tested a DAC based around the PCM5102A by TI. Ever since I've been using it with my JDS Labs CmoyBB amp and it sounds quite wonderful, but I'm not a fan of carrying both DAC and AMP around constantly. Thus I've been working on expanding the DAC PCB...

Trying to find the right enclosure...

Spent lots of time trying to find the right size enclosure for my pcb (2.5" x 1") but didn't have any luck finding on that fit the board nicely. Just for fun I decided to try the fit in an enclosure from an ELE D02 dac...   ...

Building a Simple Dac... would love some feedback!

Ok here we go - a real question. In the datasheet for the 5102A, they briefly touch on using the DAC in standard PCM mode or PLL mode. In PLL mode the SCK output from the USB receiver is not used, and the DAC instead creates its own SCK using the LRCK signal. Which of these two options is...

Building a Simple Dac... would love some feedback!

Thanks!   -I added as big a cap that will fit next to the 5V line. Probably around 220uF is the max size.  -Added two more ferrite beads, one on the 5V USB power line, and one on the 3.3V line going to the usb reciever -For simplicity and cost, gonna try it with one reg for now -Gonna keep...

Building a Simple Dac... would love some feedback!

Hello guys, So for a Christmas break project I decided to build a DAC. The USB receiver is a PCM2706 and the DAC is a PCM5102A. I believe I have finished the schematic and the first draft of the PCB design, but I would love some feedback on the schematic and board file. Are there any issues...

    PCM2704 + TDA1308 Questions

Anyone have any input on the series resistors at the output of the amp?

    PCM2704 + TDA1308 Questions

Ahh, that makes sense.   Now what about adding series resistors? Will that cut down on the noise level? There is definitely some hiss, not as bad as straight out of the headphone jack on my laptop, but it is there nonetheless.   Also, this thing is loud - I have to set windows volume at 2 in...

    PCM2704 + TDA1308 Questions

Hello everyone, I was examining the PCM2704 datasheet to compare their suggested circuit to what was included in a simple DAC I have when I noticed some differences. Specifically, on my DAC there are no pull-down resistors on the output (in front and behind the caps). Are these something that I...

    The WS99/WS77 PG 57..

So I am looking for a pair to replace my ATH-M50's and I had my heart set on the VModa M100's, but these look quite interesting.    How does the overall sound quality of these compare to an m50? Is this considered a "nicer" headphone?

    V Moda M100 vs ATH M50

Hello,   I know the prices for these are quite different, I was just wondering if I can expect a significant increase in sound quality with the m100's over the m50's Thanks

Looking for a good first "nice" headset...

Ok,   I am leaning towards the Vmoda M100 right now. I think it will be a good fit for what I like. I know it's kind of in a different league, but is it going to sound significantly better than the ATH-M50's?

Quote: I have a cMoyBB amp, so yes...   Portability really isn't an issue, but I want them to look nice and be comfortable. They have to be closed so that I can use them in the same room as my roommate without disturbing him.

Quote: Thanks, I did quite a bit of research on the K550s and to me it seems as if they are a bit too thin/flat for my liking. I would like a bias towards bass (not too much, but just enough to give me that thumping sensation).   What are my options here for a pretty even closed...

Thanks for the replies... Guess I will stay away from the Ultrasones. This is going to sound really shallow, but I absolutely hate the way that the dt 770s look and I feel that my nice headphones have to look good to be worth the money.   What do you guys think of the AKG K550?

Hello,   I am currently using a set of Bose QC3's but I would like to upgrade to a nicer pair of headphones. I have done quite a bit of research and I know that I will be needing a closed pair as I will be around other people while using the headphones. My budget is ~150 to 300. I am looking...
