I'm pretty sure "muffled" isn't a good thing. Now we're at 5 votes for Fidelio(s) and 3 for M-100. Nobody seems to be able to explain why they voted for Fidelio.

Good question for the people voting Fidelio as better. Which one are you advocating as superior: L1, M1, or X1?

That's funny -- I love JVC's cheaper earbuds due to their nice smooth lows... So I wasn't surprised to hear they had a nice over the ear with the S500. However, I really enjoyed the V-Moda LPs when I had them, so I was looking to build upon that experience. Further, the V-Modas have a 50mm...

With 2 days of research, the ones I've listed are what I came up with as the most readily available best. Haven't heard much about ue6000 or 1r, so hard to determine how they could be better choices than Fidelio M1, ATH-ESW9, or V-MODA M-100.  Please remember to vote in the poll.

I'm looking for something with outstanding sound (primarily) and portability (secondarily). I'm leaning towards M-100 unless someone can eloquently talk me out of it.

Any comments on Sony MDR-1Rs? What about Philips Fidelio L1/M1/X1? JVC HA-S500? (Still looking at V-Moda M-100 or ATH-ESW9).

So just for the heck of it I'll throw in Bowers & Wilkins P5/P3 and Sony MDR-1Rs up against my remaining finalists (V-moda M-100, ATH-ESW9). Any thoughts on the P5 and MDRs?

Am I understanding that the A900x is more balanced than the ESW9, but not as portable? Also, the ATHs have a wider frequency response range than the Ultrasones, so perhaps I can use that to help me narrow the list.

Yes, I'm looking to upgrade to one of the ones I listed. How are the ath-esw9 compared to the ATH-A900X?
