First High End Source - DACMagic or Yulong DAH1 mark
My suggestion...run, don't walk to the nearest exit! You, my friend, are about to embark on a perilous and expensive audio endeavor! But, in all seriousness, and given your initial criteria, have you considered the HeadAmp Pico w/optional built-in DAC? It might be a tad out of your range at...- michael.collins

Power Conditioning
What model of Furman conditioners do you guys use? I'm looking into their line of balanced conditioners...but, not sure their Home Theater products are worth the premium in cost over the pro a/v line. Thanks, Michael -
Headamp GS-X Information?
I've got Number 10, which I took delivery of in April or early May. So far, I've been extremely impressed...however, it's my first foray into a serious home amp, so I don't have much of a baseline to compare it with. I just recently got my balanced Equinox cables in for my HD650s, which was...- michael.collins

All X5L LODs Reviewed! iAudio Owners Must Read! [Pics Warning]
Have you encountered any issues with sound quality out of the line out vs headphone out? At one time there was a lot of discussion that the overall quality of sound from the line out was degraded over the headphone out. -

HeadAmp GS-X has arrived!
What a day! My new GS-X and Grover interconnects arrived on the same day! Couldn't wait to get these hooked up. Very, very impressed so far. The combination of GX-X, Grover XLRs and Stello DA220 has really opened up the HD650's. My balanced Equinox's should be here in a few weeks...then, I'll...- michael.collins

At what price range, do CD players gain a major jump in sound quality?

Stello DA220 initial impressions
Eureka!!! My DA220 arrived today. My initial impressions after taking it out of the box...damn, this thing is heavy. I'll have to wait a bit before I get it connected, as I'm waiting on my GS-X to arrive. That should be in within a week or so as well. Then, it's down to some serious...- michael.collins

Advice on potential balanced system
All, I'm a relative newcomer to both this board and the headphone community as a whole. I've recently completed putting together a portable system (iAudio X5 60gig=> PRII w/blackgates=>Zu Mobius=>HD650) and am now focusing in on putting together a home system. Boy, is this place dangerous
You are correct, sir! Been a big fan of the boys for a long while now. Caught my first show in '88 and was hooked. Caught a few Uptown and all the Ga Theater shows while I was Athens, and road tripped quite a bit before graduation. Don't ask me how many shows I saw during college...many of those...- michael.collins

Good catch. Wasn't me...promise. Yep, I either get that reference or the somewhat less famous astronaut, of the same name, who accompanied the first moon mission. Quote: Originally Posted by grawk Just as an outside, historical, reference, someone with the name Michael Collins...- michael.collins

Oh, yes....I remember them all. I missed that Athens alternative wave by a few years, but the influence of those bands were still felt during my years there. The music was very granola/free form during my years there. Widespread Panic, Allgood, a few early Phish shows...great, great times. And...- michael.collins

Boy, is this place dangerous
Ahhhhhhh, Athens! Spent the best 5 years of my life that I can't remember there! I would say that, without a doubt, my years in Athens (88-93) really opened my eyes to some great music! My music tastes are definitely heavily influenced by that town. What are the details for the Atl meet...- michael.collins
