    Looking to replace Etymotic ER6

I ended up getting the hf5 in Cobalt , I've had it for 2 days and I immediately noticed some improvements compared to the ER6. The cabling and ear piece materials seem much more durable. The sound is thicker but not too much - not as much as the Shure E500, isolation from outside noises is...

How about the HF5? Seems more durable.

    Looking to replace Etymotic ER6

I know exactly where the cable fault is, towards the tip. I'm not sure I want to perform my own re-cabling job. I'm also not sure it's worth it for old $70 headphones. I am considering the ER4P, I want to know what my options are. If there isn't an option for this kind of sound then I will most...

    Looking to replace Etymotic ER6

Hi everyone, I haven't logged into this forum in a long time because I've been very satisfied with my equipment (see sig), yes I'm not hard to satisfy. But sadly the right earpiece of my Etymotic ER6 (not ER6i) is cutting in and out even after a filter replacement, I believe there is a...

    replacement for shuffle

Hi everyone, I'm sick of iTunes...really sick of it. I think the shuffle is great but I want a DAP that I can just drag and drop with. I'm looking for: 1. small size like the shuffle, no screens or anything that takes up a lot of room 2. at least 1gb capacity 3. good SQ like the shuffle...

budget of $200. where from here?

Never heard the Swans but I'm curious as to how they compare to Athena AS-B1.2s with a simple stereo receiver. I have them set up with an Onkyo TX8211 out of my Total Bithead. The quality is nowhere near Total Bithead > HD595 but consensus is that they're very good for speakers especially at...

Anybodys portable rig come close to their home setup?

Nope. Portability = Compromise unless you consider full sized cans portable. I mainly use my portable setup to isolate myself from the noise in the subway, the sound itself is acceptable but nowhere near as good as my home rig.

haven't tried the X3 but the ER-6 is very good for the price

    The ____ headphone bashing thread

Creative EP-630: Can bass get any worse? Overpowering, one-toned, undefined bass. Shure E2c, E500: I just can't stand all that midrange emphasis. Shure is definitely not for me. JVC Marshmallows (FX-33): No details whatsoever, bass heavy.

    Recommendations for Sennheiser HD650s?

I agree with getting a USB DAC/Amp. The Headroom Total Bithead is on sale. I'm very satisfied with mine, and I got it for $50 more. http://www.headphone.com/products/he...al-bithead.php

    Which IEM should I get?

The e500 sounds great...but make sure you like the shure sound (emphasized mids/mid-bass)

    Headphones for MP3 player

I recommend the KSC75 and HD201. EP630 and Marshmallows (FX-33) are just sub par.

    PX-100 or KSC-75

The Senns are more neutral and clean, definitely less bass than the KSC75 but not lacking in bass. The KSC75 is more refined in my opinion having a very nice airyness and depth, the PX100s are more upfront but otherwise boring. The KSC75 has flaws like heavy semi-muddy bass, mids falling behind...

    IEM vs. Headphones

IMO IEMs can't compare to headphones at all and I've heard the Shure E500s. IEMs are for portability and isolation, they really lack a realistic presentation in terms of soundstage and openness/airyness to compete with full sized headphones. The very nature of their design is their limitation...

    Most Overrated Headphone?

I voted for PX100, there's really not much special about it. I would have preferred to vote for the Shure E2 though.

The only 3 headphones I would not be without

I only have 3, 1) Senn HD595 (best I've heard, although I'm very curious about the HD650, K701, and K1000) 2) Etymotic ER6 (acceptable portable, balanced the way I like but with some rock/metal music it is a little "thin" and "tinny", not quite as musical and involving as the HD595 or even...

    Don't like KSC75's should I even bother w/ Grados

If the SR80 is indicative of the Grado sound then I think they sound different. The KSC75 has more and better defined tighter bass (yes tighter even though it's not tight since the SR80's bass sounds muddy and recessed to me - I'm sure the bass on higher end Grados are much better) while the...

    ER6 driven by iPod shuffle?

The G1 shuffle has more than enough juice to drive the ER6. It gets to levels too loud to listen to before it can get louder and distort. I would guess the G2 shuffle will be fine too. I love this combo, it gets better and better. The more I listen to it, the more I love it.
