Fostex TH X00 vs Lawton Modded D5000 Comparative Review
Hey man, sorry to resurrect a dead thread. I wanted to ask if you ended up installing the Lawton mod, and if so could you estimate/compare its impact to the Alpha pads? I just tried out Alpha pads on my Purplehearts and noticed a mildly improved soundstage and definitely tighter bass with...- ho1ysword

KOSS ESP-950 Thread
Well, the pads on fongaudio.com appear to be sourced from Vesper. I think they are the only entity making custom pads for these headphones. Maybe the photo on Vesper's website is wonky... an old prototype or something. Comparing my new pads to my stock pads, the ear opening is a bit smaller...- ho1ysword

KOSS ESP-950 Thread
Oh, neat. That's kinda weird for me to see those Vesper pads having a dedicated listing on a (yours, Darin?) retail site. Coincidentally, I just ordered a bespoke pair directly from Vesper for the ESP950: Black leather Angled pads, 4cm deep at the front and 2cm deep at the back Fast foam...- ho1ysword

Semi end game cans. He560, Lcd2 or Esp950
Hey, hope you're enjoying the ESP950's. They are my endgame open set. I found the mids and detail retrieval to be perfect, but bass was not as good as something like the HE-6, which for EDM.... So for me, I do find that they respond well to a 3-6dB boost in the lower octaves. I use...- ho1ysword

Austin Meet - Interest Check?
Yep, I'm interested. I can bring my electrostats and probably a couple of friends as well. All of my music library is online, so it would be great if we could have wi-fi available at the venue.- ho1ysword

I'm almost hesitant to try the HE1K as I suspect they would become my new preferred single can! HE6 bass and electrostatic-class mids.....- ho1ysword

KOSS ESP-950 Thread
Hard to go wrong with a Modi when it's a little cheaper than the ODAC. I'm also fond of the FiiO E10. That said, as long as there's nothing horrendously wrong with the output (obvious distortion, etc.) I'm quite hard pressed to tell the differences between DAC's. It's true the E/90...- ho1ysword

KOSS ESP-950 Thread
Hey all, checking in again -- my last post on this thread was about two years ago. I just wanted to post a quick rant for anybody browsing this thread who might be on the fence about the ESP-950's. I'm still 100% happy with my purchase, and they remain my primary set. Have I heard phones...- ho1ysword

My two cents: Grado's just aren't quite to my taste. I prefer a more analytic sound from my headphones (emphasis on transparency and detail resolution) because I can get that "fun factor" from my loudspeakers. I own the Mad Dogs, and I love them. However, the reason why I picked them up...- ho1ysword

Heh, it looks like they're reusing model numbers: http://www.amazon.com/AKG-340-In-Canal-Bud-Headphone/dp/B0028N78AC Very interesting. Thanks! Had not heard of the "electret" style of driver before.- ho1ysword

Aww hell yea! I'll bring my 'stats. I really want to take an hour to compare the HD 800 to my ESP-950 in terms of detail retrieval (with the slight caveat that I want to see if I need to upgrade my DAC). Lately, I've had some trouble shaking the idea that somebody should invent a multi-driver...- ho1ysword

Dallas June 9 Impressions thread
The HE90 -- what a pleasant surprise. Never thought I'd have a chance to listen to a set! What I was really impressed with, though, was the Fostex TH600. I normally have to EQ heavily to bring the bass frequencies up to my taste, but I felt these were spot-on. I suppose it's that Denon D5000...- ho1ysword

Milosz, I want to thank you for the detailed impressions and information you provided in this thread.
