Entry level TT setup
Can someone recommend an entry level turntable setup. I don't really have a budget right now but a ballpark figure would be $100-$200. Sorry if this is way too low to get anything decent. I am not even sure what components I will need in addition to my headphones and their amp. I think a turn...- zutme

What's wrong with me?
I have a/b tested my old senns vs. my grado 325i and I agree there is a difference in the sound that was not so obvious when I first bought the grados. I appreciate the sq of my grados over the $40 Senn 212 pro and I always have. One more thing while I'm posting. At the Nashville meet my...- zutme

What's wrong with me?
I guess what I expect is that $1000+ headphones sound SIGNIFICANTLY better than my old cheapo Sennheiser 212pro. I mean you all go on and on about this stuff and it seems like theres this whole world out there that I have read a lot about but can't experience. I'm sorry if I'm not clear...- zutme

What's wrong with me?
Sorry this is so long, but even having it this long it seems like I am leaving a lot out. To understand my problem with high end audio you need to know a little bit about me and what I believe to be the root cause of my problem. My greatest interest/hobby has always been in computers and the...- zutme

Nashville Meet 04-01-06 ...
I really enjoyed my first meet. Thanks for hosting it archosman. Being the resident noob at the meet I feel like I learned a lot from you guys. Unfortunately I think my experience at the meet will lead to some big spending in my future and big changes to my setup. After attending the meet I am...- zutme

Portable closed headphones for iPod
I haven't tried any of the headphones mentioned in this thread except the Senn HD 212 Pro. They have a ton of base and have pretty good isolation. Also they sound fine unamped.- zutme

You could try insulating with foam. Not a good idea thermally, but if your hard drive runs pretty cool you could try insulating it. I've done this before with success. Also you could install a pentiometer on the fan for your cpu to throttle it down. Again if you go too low heat will become a...- zutme

Headphone sightings
Saw someone I knew the other day wearing Grado SR 60s. He has since dropped out of contact again, but in the brief conversation we had he implied that they were just for portable use. Meaning he has a better setup at home? Who knows.- zutme
