Reply to review by 'zipdisk' on item 'Stax SR-007 Mk2'
Thank you Beholdclarity for your illuminating review. I am going to order a pair of the SR-007mk2 ear speakers directly from Japan and I'm worried that I may be sent the earlier version of the mk2, which has a more controversial sound. Can someone tell me how I can identify the more recent...- zipdisk

Rudistor may be gone?
I may be mistaken, but I have been unable to reach the Rudistor.com website. I get a message that the domain is for sale. Perhaps it's me, or a hack, or something else, but I thought I would post this and maybe confirm that I am an idiot (and it still exists). I hope Rudolfo is well and I...- zipdisk

Is Rudistor better known for SS or tube amps?
Thanks for the information and comments. My impressions were more or less correct, but I was mispronouncing the name. Good to finally get it right!- zipdisk

Is Rudistor better known for SS or tube amps?
On which is their reputation based, and which did they initially produce? Also, does Rudistor rhyme with resistor (ru DIS' tor) or is it pronounced like the name Rudi Stor (RU' di Stor)?- zipdisk

Guitar Center Listening Station?
Call them up and ask them if you can demo the DT770s, and ask about their return policy. (I'm skeptical that they would have a pair in stock, but I could be wrong.) I believe HeadRoom has a 30 day "no questions asked" return policy. You could also email or call them and inquire about that.- zipdisk

HD650s sound problems! Help!
Try gently flexing the headband. Take Stanleh or Glitch39's advice and put them around some books or a ball. It may take a week or more but they will eventually expand. Try yoga for stress.- zipdisk

HD 600 cable replacement
The hd650 cable is heavier and, as I recall, the connectors fit tighter (at the headphone end). Also, I believe the hd650 has a fixed 1/4" headphone jack. So if you think you might use it with equipment that has a mini-jack input, you may want to also order the adapter.- zipdisk

cheap standalone cdp
For an inexpensive new cdp, I agree with Penger's suggestion. Many seem to think that sonically, the Oppo is a real gem. Also, I believe it is a multi-format player, if that is important to you. I, myself, haven't heard one. Good luck!- zipdisk

Another record cleaning thread
I have the vpi rcm and like it very much, although it is noisy. I haven't tried a Nitty Gritty, but my understanding is that with them you don't manually scrub the record. Not having that convenience is not an issue for me, but it might be for you. I see used RCMs come up for sale on Audiogon...- zipdisk

Thoughts on HD 595's.
Hello Theorum4, and welcome to Head-Fi. Thanks for giving us your impressions. By the way, I can't quite remember theorum 4, although I think it comes just before theorum 5. Care to elaborate?- zipdisk

I'd like to try this. Do you plunk the whole earpad into the dye? You can't remove the cover from the earpads, can you?- zipdisk

This is too hard...
I suggest open fully circumaural phones. Sometimes called full-size phones, they are the most comfortable. If you listen where people will not be upset by hearing what you are listening to, get open phones. They are a bit easier on the ears, and you can stay in touch with your environment (e.g...- zipdisk

HD580s to HD650/AKG701/???
I think you've described the akg/senn dilemma quite well. I started out listening to agk phones, then moved to Senns, and now have a pair of akg 501s, which now I almost always reach for. If you are used to the Senn sound then akgs can initially sound a bit edgy. However, I found that I adjusted...- zipdisk

AKG ruined my headphones, what to do?
I sent my 240DFs to AKG's repair facility in Nashville several years ago (when it was still open). They were completely rebuilt and both the rebuilt 'phones and all the old parts, placed inside a plastic bag, were returned. Perhaps they forgot to put the repaired 'phones in the box and only sent...- zipdisk
