How will the SRH840 headphones sound without an amp, is it absolutely necessary to buy one or will they work fine straight from an iPod?- JohnnyF

So my two options are the Ultrasone wiithout an amp or the Shure with an amp? If that's the case then I will have to go with the Ultrasone. My original requirement was that it could be plugged straight into an iPod.- JohnnyF

I think I have narrowed my list down to two: Ultrasone HFI-580 Shure Distribution SRH840 I am swayed more towards the Shure and after reading more reviews it seems that they are okay for travelling but they take some time to setup so they're not really ideal for short trips which is fine for...- JohnnyF

Shure SHR840: "they are not intended for use out and about. They want to be kept indoors, preferably in a room where a mixing board packed with a dizzying array of knobs and faders lives" from here: http://www.trustedreviews.com/shure-srh840_Headphones_review- JohnnyF

Although these do look good they are well within my budget (£135) and I'm wondering if they're a bit too cheap.- JohnnyF

I bought them for £55 reduced from £98, although now reading some more reviews they have been criticized for quality when not playing bass.- JohnnyF

Okay thank you I will! I'm not too knowledgable when it comes to this subject but I suppose I will need "all rounders" apart from really heavy bass/dubstep/rap type music. Also the "Klipsch Image One On-Ear Headphones" are an amazon "black friday" deal, would they be worth a look? (currently...- JohnnyF

The "AUDIO TECHNICA ATH-M50S" look very nice and fit perfectly in my budget! I think the V-Modas are a little out of budget for me though. At the moment I have some terrible skullcandy headphones that are better than the ones that came with my iPad but I'm really looking for something with a lot more quality. I am thinking of buying an iPod shuffle and some headphones to come with it. The headphones will need to be relatively...- JohnnyF
