Audeze LCD-3 Impressions Thread
The ring vinyl can flake so maybe that's why they did it, but yeah, not 'standard'- rothkowitz

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
I suppose low gain for Audeze on a fairly grunty amp like the Deckard is best as you have more volume dial movement available. If it's a too quiet recording, switch to high gain. Someone will have an actually technical answer.- rothkowitz

I don't really get that but if they get the 3M rings for you then all good, surely. Still never heard of not one but two sets coming loose like that but stranger things happen at sea.- rothkowitz

That doesn't sound at all right. A practical solution though is to have a look on the Dekoni website and you can find the 3M rings to re-attach it there.- rothkowitz

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
Didn't realise there was a steel headband. That keeps the plastic down. I couldn't use it unmodified either. I had to put a piece of cloth on my head. You are sitting there with this advanced piece of electronic engineering and construction and you think: hmm, a facecloth on my head would...- rothkowitz

Do you find there is less space for your head than with the original (or with the original and the Lohb suspension strap if you might have had that) ? The new carbon fibre strap, whilst not much lighter, does look a lot better I think- rothkowitz

I managed to flip them when I changed the pads. You can still adjust them but you're meeting worrying resistance. As said, take the black screws out of the top and keep the right direction of the tiny corona-like things that the small screw goes into before re-attaching the drivers. Flipping...- rothkowitz

Likewise, I just replaced mine (2011). I'm getting a better soundstage and instrument seperation, I guess as the drivers are held further out from my ears now. I do notice there is less 'ear space' in the cup. I am presuming this will increase just slightly over time as they soften. They aren't...- rothkowitz

Beginner 'audiophile' starting out in life!! ;)
Hi, On point 3, aftermarket cables do make a difference. I got Forza silver/ copper for Audeze LCD 2's which opened and tightened the sound up. I think for the money you're spending on headphones though, I reckon leave that for another day and use the cable money for 'better' headphones. Cables...- rothkowitz

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
I have the Rev 2 and with some classical they work really well, with a full, impactful sound where the music benefits from it eg Wagner, Shostakovich. For other classical the weight of the Sennheisers (I had HD600) made for a better experience and the weight of the LCD-2's were just a...- rothkowitz

Hi, Was wondering if anyone had tried replacing the 'tuning sponge'(?) material under the grills. If so, what material did you use and was it worthwhile? Cheers- rothkowitz

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
This is very true, they can become overwhelming and you can feel drawn to music which maintains it. They aren't a subtle headphone, nor do they feel as such on your head. Definitely a horse for a course..then again, hard to adjust to other headphones after them.- rothkowitz

Audeze LCD-2C Classic - Impressions Thread
I haven't heard the new Classic version but have the pre-fazors. Treble would bug me in that I felt I was losing detail and I would at times really have to concentrate and listen 'into' the mix. This was the negative aspect of their fairly laid back sound, though they would never sound sibilant...- rothkowitz

My LCD-2 died - Need a budget replacement while I save
More to the point: Koss Porta Pro! Cheap as chips and lifetime warranty. Sells for I think £30 (or equivalent new). Alternately AKG K550 can be got for £60 on ebay (various iterations, Mk2 toned down some of the treble issues, I see now there's a Mk3)- rothkowitz

I have the same LCD-2. I'm curious how it and the LCD-2C compare side by side, especially how much more 'air' the LCD-2C has. The earlier has great slam and a cable change works wonders but I've always wanted a smidge more openess at the top without sacrificing the low end- rothkowitz

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Copper-silver hybrid (in Forza guise at least) is seperate strands of copper and silver http://forzaaudioworks.com/en/product.php?id_product=73 Worked really well on Audeze LCD 2's, the stock cable just sounds cardboard-boxy now. (Incidentally, am using HD650 cable on HD600's)- rothkowitz

HD650 to LCD-2 - Was it worth it?
Agreed, but it seems to be a headphone that Sennheiser 600-series owners gravitate to. You gain bass, clarity and seperation especially that leaves the Sennheiser behind. It's twice the price but twice the headphone? You leave behind the Sennheiser's comfort which to me is the only real...- rothkowitz
