All the headphones at the Apple Store sound terrible.
Perhaps headphones are overpriced. For the price of a Sennheiser momentum you can get a iPad Mini. We all know that the IPad has a lot more than a couple of drivers and a frame. Hmmmmm.....- Z3disD3ad

Roccat Kave Solid 5.1 Surround Sound Gaming Headset
I have these headphones. I bought them after my Turtle Beach Z6A broke (headband joint). Overall, the sound is ok (they will sound like rubbish out of the box so you need to setup properly - 17% for Front, Rear, Center, 100% for Sub, 100% for all dials on remote). The surround sound is...- Z3disD3ad

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
Leather ABSORBS oils from the skin and everyone who owns leather jackets knows what can happen to the collar if you don't wear a collar shirt in between. The area that touches the skin will eventually become extremely dark brown. There isn't anything you can do about that. This is a...- Z3disD3ad

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
Quote: Hey bud, No I wasn't making a general statement but a specific one for this specific context. I don't know of any laptop that cannot drive and 18ohm headphone and I did consider that one of the issues with some older laptops are noise interference that results in a...- Z3disD3ad

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
Quote: Nothing to do with amp at all. Difference probably arising as a result of different media players and Equalization and sound settings, nothing more. But it seems you are really adamant on buying an amp for some reason so I suggest just buy the most EXPENSIVE amp on the...- Z3disD3ad

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
Quote: You don't need ANY additional amps for this headphone! That's the whole point of these headphones - portability and ability to run optimally off iDevices. You will probably make it sound worse given signal/noise ratios with extra cabling and other factors.- Z3disD3ad

My attempt at removing the Sennheiser veil through equalization

My attempt at removing the Sennheiser veil through equalization
Well, the post I was replying had the claim that EQ leads to distortion which you '+1' on the previous page. Now you are saying that you cannot get more than what your headphones are capable of which is what I've already said in my previous post. So I'm not sure what you are trying to tell...- Z3disD3ad

My attempt at removing the Sennheiser veil through equalization
Quote: Can you please explain what you mean by this because it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. You can change the dB of specific frequency ranges in the same way you can turn the volume up and change the output dB of the ENTIRE frequency range. The only difference here is...- Z3disD3ad

My attempt at removing the Sennheiser veil through equalization
Saying that use of EQ is cheating is utter nonsense. Cheating in what sense? not splashing money on new amps maybe? ok then. I have a software DSP that can be bought for £2000 and works as a VST plugin. Who's interested?- Z3disD3ad

My attempt at removing the Sennheiser veil through equalization
If you have to ever consider balancing by rewiring and such then just Get new headphones with sound you like. In this day and age hacking headphones to that degree is ridiculous. Also buying £600 cables for your headphones is totally unnecessary. Would be cheaper to buy new cans. If someone...- Z3disD3ad

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
It would be quite an embarrassment if Sennheiser provides false and misleading information about their products. I personally think they could be aluminium ear cups with a thick coating giving the impression they are plastic. I think another confirmation from Sennheiser is sorely...- Z3disD3ad

Sennheiser MOMENTUM Review
I don't understand why people are talking of amping these headphones when they are perfectly power driven by most eDevices. The whole point of these headphones. Also, have you tried EQing the midrange and seeing how the headphones cope? I don't think I've ever listened to any headphone...- Z3disD3ad

Review by 'Z3disD3ad' on item 'Sennheiser HD 598'
For the price, these headphones have incredible sound quality. Compared to other headphones like the HD 650, this is by no means an 'inferior' headphone just different. Superb soundstage and bass and treble capabilities. out of the box the highs mids and lows are well balanced. Comfort is...- Z3disD3ad

Got my Sennheiser HD598's
I don;t think the SB Go! Pro is a proper amp. It's just an external sound card probably similar in power output to your internal sound card. In fact, I cannot see any reason for you to purchase this at all. P.S. I already have the SB Go! Pro USB stick for old games that used EAX.- Z3disD3ad

Got my Sennheiser HD598's
I'm over the moon with the 598's. These headsets have everything I could want in SQ and style to boot. I'm not amping mine at all and they sound great. I tried with my Yamaha A2070 amp and didn't notice any perceptible difference (I think's it's 100 ohm out for the 50 ohm 598 but looking...- Z3disD3ad

Anything that sounds just like the senn Momentum with better soundstage?
Quote: Yeah, I amended my post when I saw he wants closed back only. Thing is, the soundstage on Momentum is already *great*. I couldn't recommend any closed back portable over the Momentum for my needs (Jazz, Rock, Trance, R&B).- Z3disD3ad
