Adam A7x Audiophile Review by Digital Newbie

My tube buffer with the Voskod "rocket" is very special. I tried more expensive tubes and I agree those colored the Adam sound to much. The main point though is Adam has great monitors and we all agree on that. I am also looking at S3x V down the road but not right now since it took me this long...

Adam A7x Audiophile Review by Digital Newbie

I agree whole heartily I've often wondered where the Adam users are or if I was imaging what I'm hearing.

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

You may be right while listening to my favorite Bill Evans hi-res I noticed some hot spots. A friend did some test with LCD-3's going from Burston to TD-11 and heard the same sizzle. What do you think about the Uber/Lyr combo as a preamp and HP amp for active monitors/HE-500? If I make this...

Flysweep, off topic but what do you think about the uber Bitfrost dac/Lyr combo replacing the TD-11? If I wanted the same tube flavor for my studio monitors and HP. I can't find any direct dac comparisons but the uber-Bitfrost does compare favorably against other more higher end dacs. How...

    Hifiman ef5 or Objective2 for HE-500?

Is it the mono OP627 adapter height?  I understand you have to put spacers to reattach the acrylic plate?  Any other installation issues I should be aware of?  Im not a DIY type with tools and such!!     EF-5 smoothness with 500's doesn't mean tremble roll-off or lack of detail does it?  ...

+1. I do the same thing because fans of certain brands or models can't be objective sometime.

    Hifiman ef5 or Objective2 for HE-500?

That sounds like a better version of the smoothness I'm getting from my TD-11 SS out. I need more power though it starts breaking up a 3 o'clock, it's only 600mw @ 32ohm. The EF-5 I understand has 2w @ 32ohm so that should put me back at 12 o'clock for semi high volume listening? It's half the...

Absolutely with change in my pocket!! When I looked at that potential mini-x sitting on my desktop and remembered why I have active monitor in the first place. I don't want racks of Schiit (I love that name) like my music room looked like in the old days (80's), album crates, later cd racks...

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

While waiting for my HE-500's to arrive I became so jazzed and whipped into upgrade/forum mode. After chasing all the options, Lyr, Mini-x, EF-5 and others with tubes and opamp upgrades. I'm just listening to my current setup with the 500's and I really like the sound. So I'm going to sit tight...

    HE-500, LCD2, D5000, DT770, SR80, on a speaker amp (Emotiva mini-X A-100) Project

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

That's what I'm hearing a nice smooth and warm sound, I am just questioning power issues and getting full potential from the 500's. If I had this sound with 2w or so I'd be happy, that's why I started looking a SS amps not just tubes after hearing TD-11 SS. I didn't know It was the TD-11, I...

Hey guys where can I get a female 1/4 plug to speaker tap adapter with SPC cable similar to 500 stock cable?

HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

Thanks guys for the speaker tap education! I get it now, back in my analog/tower days I always had a x2 minimum channel power to speaker max rating for low level detail. If I get the mini-x I can go tube out from DAC > mini-x and have best of both worlds! Thanks

How many watts is the Emotiva mini pushing into let's say the HE-500's? Update: I did a calculation and I think it's about 10 watts into 38 ohm. That's a heck of a lot of power for 1 watt recommended phones. I smell smoke!!! :scream:
