They are so suspiciously good, it's hard to think what Sony have done in the H2 and H3, because changing anything would make the overall balance worse. I assume the larger dynamic drivers (13.5mm for the H2 and 16.5mm for the H3) will push the bass emphasis lower down, and the extra BA in the H3...

Isolation is very good, on par with most BA IEMs and the Atrios. I commute by multiple trains and have no issues. I cannot see a vent hole. I can barely remember the XBA-3, so take this with a grain of salt. The XBA-3 was very much "BA" quality bass, better than all single/duals and on par...

It turns out that the "lunchtime shootout" was really a late evening shootout, but it worked out for the best, I spent a lot more time comparing and making notes. There is no doubt about it, the Atrios are only mildly bassier than the XBA-H1, not the earth shattering amount I had imagined...

Ordered the new Sony XBA-H1 IEMs yesterday, delivered earlier today. Great service by my local Sony Centre here in the UK, there was free next day delivery to store and phone call to let me when they were ready for collection. Staff were clueless (as usual), they had to google it first before...

A little late coming back to this thread. I did see it again in a much better cinema, and it was still one of the best films I've seen. Although I have watched many of the 200 greatest films (don't forget the BFI), so maybe it's DiCaprio Bias:

It's all about the output. Most of the Sansa's put out 0.5V maximum, that's fine for most IEMs and the HD25-1, but not much else. iPods put out upto 1V (at least the 5.5g does), that's a massive difference. Volume matched, they sound incredibly similar.     EK
