WMP11 vs EAC for lossless ripping
ok thanks guys. I guess i'll keep ripping WMA lossless. As far as the ASIO or kernal playback, I never got an answer about it being or not being possible with WMP11 or the sound card I have. Anybody know?- HtdHvy

WMP11 vs EAC for lossless ripping
First, ripping through Windows Media Player will almost certainly result in some tracks being ripped imperfectly, especially for any CDs that might have some flaws such as minor scratches. I think that the difference will not be noticable if you are simply using Windows Media or similar player...- HtdHvy

WMP11 vs EAC for lossless ripping
I recently began ripping my entire cd collection (500+) to my hard drive as WMA lossless. I'm about 260 CDs in right now, but it seems like most people here prefer EAC w/FLAC lossless over WMA lossless ripped by Windows Media Player. While it would be a pain to rerip my music, I would be willing...- HtdHvy

DAC for under $300 Gilmore Lite/Mac OS X Setup
It doesn't need to be portable. Something with a powersupply is fine. I had a few reservations about the micro dac, the biggest being that it only has a 1/8 jack output and i want to buy a nice interconnect that i can use with my sacd player as well and i dont want to use any adapters. If its...- HtdHvy

DAC for under $300 Gilmore Lite/Mac OS X Setup
Here’s my situation: I own the Sony MDR-SA5000 cans and I just ordered a Gilmore Lite from HeadAmp. I listen to music off of my Powerbook G4 (AAC 320Kbps). For under $300, what is the best DAC for this setup. Usb or optical are both fine because I have an airport express which I could use with...- HtdHvy

Amplifier/DAC suggestions for under $1000
I promise this is my last addition of items to ask opinions on. How about the Channel Island Audio: VHP-1/VDA-1/VAC-1 That combo is also right in my price range.- HtdHvy

Amplifier/DAC suggestions for under $1000
Oh I just came across the WooAudio 3. That looks rather good on paper and the price isnt so bad. Anyone have thoughts on how it compares to the headroom/x-can v3/and the amp section of the grace m901. I think the benchmark dac-1 is out of the running for me since the amp section seems to get...- HtdHvy

Amplifier/DAC suggestions for under $1000
agile_one, where can you find a m901? i googled for it and found nothing. Also are there any shops in the Sarasota/Tampa (I live in Sarasota too!) area that carry the grace/benchmark/x-can (i think the headroom is only through their website) to compare? I actually havent found a store in the...- HtdHvy

Amplifier/DAC suggestions for under $1000
thanks to everyone who has given input so far. two more questions- Is the Headroom Desktop Amp portion better (cleaner, lower noise floor) than the X-Can V3 amp and "but the Home amp will easily beat the DAC1 amp." I guess this is directed at MikeW and Sloth. is the DAC-1 a joke as...- HtdHvy

Applebook are you running your X-CAN directly out of your powerbook? If so, how does that sound? I could get just that for now and get a DAC later as well...- HtdHvy

Amplifier/DAC suggestions for under $1000
Ok here is my situation: I currently own the Sony MDR-SA5000’s which I bought about a month ago per the rave reviews they got on this forum and I absolutely love ‘em. I use them mainly via a headphone output with my Pioneer Elite VSX-55TXi receiver and a Pioneer Elite DV-47Ai SACD/DVD-Audio...- HtdHvy
