The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP
Do you mean DSD files? If so, then big chance the soon-to-come new version will support it since the MkII is already supporting DSD files.- AbsoluteZero

The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP
Well , let's see how major this firmware update really is. As you guys mentioned previously, there won't be much more focus once the II's get into stores. As I said in the AK100 & AK120 II thread, I am not a fan of the design AND the price. The reason I stick with the old AK100 is both its SQ...- AbsoluteZero

$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage
Complaints after complaints? :p On the serious side, I knew the battery would not be that short timed where it should be a firmware defect and yes I do expect there are bugs on this Calyx debut DAP but never in my wildest imagination that a battery indicator inducing auto turn off would be one...- AbsoluteZero

$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage
Three hour battery life? Noises? Excuses from the CEO? Damn this is so far turning into a train wreck, thank goodness there are still some positive reviews regarding the M or else I don't even know how Calyx can salvage anything from this.- AbsoluteZero

Brand Spanking New A&K AK120II and AK100II
Agreed, the (soon-to-be) older series has an advantage in form factor. The AK200&220 is interesting and sleek looking but is about the same size as an AK240.- AbsoluteZero

$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage
I was just making a conclusion since early demo impressions indicate that they have a warm signature but the production sound impressions is different. The box really reminds me of AK ones, I thought it would be cool if they use the same material but with lighter color like white-brown combination.- AbsoluteZero

Here you can see the copper color is still there. It seems the M sound signature was tweaked after seeing the production release impressions...- AbsoluteZero

The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP
Interesting, remembering how DX90 is very much talked about so fondly here. Did you have the MkII or was it the MkI AK100? I actually have heard the X5 to use with my V3 but still prefers my AK100 and this is not only from the form factor. The sound signature of the X5 just does not...- AbsoluteZero

I see, thanks for the heads up. Though honestly I prefer my IEM to be used direct instead of using an additional amp.- AbsoluteZero

$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage
I think from all the reviews so far, it points to a warm signature even more so than the X5.. I've heard the X5 in a 1 hour long demo and did not click with its signature, so with that in mind my expectations is now at the lowest for the M. Won't count it out for demoing though, still...- AbsoluteZero

$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage
Classic Ibasso I presume is that they aren't learning from experience. They had more or less the same design blueprint in DX50 yet they still have basic issues and other bugs that shouldn't happen. I agree with Solude, they seemed to rush DX90 seeing the wave of anticipation following the...- AbsoluteZero

$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage
Yes, but Calyx M is their first soon to be mass produced DAP (CMIIW). This will be a test of their QC regardless of how long they have been in development. I think their slow approach to the market is to avoid cases that Fiio & Ibasso has suffered, which is releasing it too early to a huge...- AbsoluteZero

$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage
The "looking well built" part I can agree, looking good is relative for me especially after their first rendition. I hope the SQ can elevate my interest to the previous levels. Great UI is just the side dish for me since I have been living with the AK100 UI for quite a long time. The...- AbsoluteZero

$999 Calyx M with DXD + DSD, 64GB + SD + µSD storage
To be honest after seeing the latest rendition and videos from the Calyx M , I am losing my interest rapidly. I will demo these in the future and decide whether it is able to dislodge the AK100 I currently have.- AbsoluteZero

Apex Glacier amp/dac review and appreciation thread
Purely based on sound signature, I think X5 and Glacier might complement each other since Glacier is forward sounding meanwhile X5 is warm sounding. Never heard the combination but might be worth thinking about.- AbsoluteZero

The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP
Maybe the combination of AK100 & O2 as a pair gives out that flat signature? CMIIW, AK100 and O2 both gives out a more flat and neutral sound signature which may sound boring to listen to. I myself have used AK100 as DAC but used a more energetic amp in Apex Glacier which sounded good to me...- AbsoluteZero

The Official JRPG Thread (aka Japanese Role Playing Games)
Couldn't object to that , the first time I've recruited Richard I was like "How can I not put this guy in my party?" There are many OP'ed SoD in V that really makes the game easy. The Official JRPG Thread (aka Japanese Role Playing Games)
Great news, just read it also from another site. Just finished playing Suikoden V, great game but for me it doesn't reach the heights of Suikoden II. Too much template taken from SII. The scene with Arshtat and Ferid's death was one of the saddest/best scene in the Suikoden series...- AbsoluteZero

His change in body language and the way he talks when a guy asks about technical details followed by his explanations shows how much he dedicates himself in audio quality and the passion he has.
