Creative Sound Blaster X7 - Detailed Review & Impressions
Thanks for the video man. I ordered a pair of these along with my X7 on Massdrop recently without really ever seeing them, and finding any decent pictures or video was near impossible. On a side note, it looks like I'll be moving my tower to the floor in a couple of weeks. I also have a...- zdmetal

The Fiio X5 Thread
Has anyone else been waiting so long on MP4Nation or *insert retailer here* that they don't even want one anymore? Maybe I'm just spoiled by Amazon Prime. If they didn't straight up lie about their stock, when they would have it, and which pre-order group I was in that would have helped as well.- zdmetal

Shopping for a new pair under $100. Really bad luck so far.
Shure SRH440. I wouldn't reccommend any open headphone to anyone who plans on wearing them out in public. I can't stand when I can hear other people's music, so I assume nobody wants to hear mine either. The Shure's have excellent isolation, cost less than $100, and are foldable for...- zdmetal

Do you use equalizers?
I always use the equalizer in iTunes, but the kind of music I listen too has a habit of being poorly mixed, mastered, etc. I think everything sounds terrible without it, not sure how you guys do it.- zdmetal

Show us your Head-Fi station at it's current state. No old pictures please...
Quote: Thanks, I tried my best to diversify so I could get a good taste of the different styles and sounds. The desk isn't actually custom built at all it's just some cheapy pile I bought from a local auction for $30. I think it's just a Wal-Mart brand one that you buy and assemble...- zdmetal

Which one? Sennheiser HD 598's or Grado sr225i's?
Quote: Thanks for pointing this out! I just did the reverse quarter mod on my yellow Sennheiser pads, they still aren't amazingly comfortable but it definitely helped quite a bit. I'm guessing my problem is the fact that I wear glasses, so I'll just have to get over it.- zdmetal

Which one? Sennheiser HD 598's or Grado sr225i's?
If you want deep bass stay away from the Sennheisers, they are probably the least bassy pair of headphones I've ever owned. That's not to say they are bad, but the Grados will be better in your situation. Also, I don't know if this is a problem for anyone else, but, I can't wear Grado headphones...- zdmetal

Looking for headphones akin to Shure 440s
I'm looking at both of them right now next to each other and they really aren't that much bigger. But, I suppose if you want to be able to carry them around every little bit matters. Mine just sit on their hanger when I'm not using them so size is a non-factor for me.- zdmetal

Looking for headphones akin to Shure 440s
Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro. I have both and I find them somewhat similar, the Beyer's are MUCH more comfortable as well.- zdmetal

Rate The Last Movie You Watched
21 Jump Street- 8/10 Much better than I was expecting since Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are such a weird pairing. Turns out they work well together and it was a pretty funny movie.- zdmetal

WORST headphone you ever heard?
Whichever Sullcandy headphones have the built in subwoofer that you have to have an extra battery for. Those things are damn ridiculous and sound horrid.- zdmetal

Want to get new headphones over the 200$ range. Any suggestions?
The Sennheiser 598 HD is around $250 on Amazon. I just bought a pair myself, super comfy, and sound great. They don't have a ton of bass though, at least not with the amp/DAC I'm using, so if you're a bass head I would suggest looking elsewhere.- zdmetal

Only $249.95 for my Sennheiser 598 HD's. Hopefully down the road I'll be able to spend more.- zdmetal

SOL Republic Tracks HD or Monster Inspiration or Beats Studio HD?
+1 for the Ultrasone HFI-580 I don't have a pair myself but I did try a pair out once and they look decent enough and have almost Beats levels of bass and actually sound good. It's a good thing that they have less because the Beats have too much.- zdmetal

Quote: Cool, I'll probably end up going with the Ultrasone's then. I've thought about upgrading to the SRH840, but then I'd have two pairs of relatively identical headphones. I even bought 840 ear cushions for my 440's because the ones that come stock on the 440's are atrocious. I'll...- zdmetal
